Fighting under water

Thu 18 Apr 2019, 00:47

Has anyone had this come up? If yes, how did you handle it?

I think my players are about to do something awesome but incredibly stupid and try to capture an amphibious drakewyrm in a big net whilst under water, apart from adding a -2 modifier to all actions and maybe turning all fast actions into slow actions I have really thought how this could play out?

Fighting in water is difficult unless you have speargun and you are outside the water :)
  • I would add from -1 to -3 to all physical rolls depending on the situation - currents and other environmental factors that make swimming hard
  • If they will fight with something. I might treat each move as through rough terrain, calling for move roll.
  • Call for endurance rolls if they have to stay underwater for prolonged period of time. If the monster grabs them it will get really interesting soon. :), I might allow them to stay underwater before a check number of turns equal to their current Strength. This means that if you are damaged - time for a roll to prevent drowning.
