Are you going to include different types of humanoids too besides orc & goblin? Races like hobgoblin, gnolls, ratmen etc?
Hope there will be not too many races. FbL has another feeling for me than classical fantasy worlds with the obligatory races.
+1 to not seeing more sentient humanoid races.

I agree, better to have different factions of a few intelligent kins then 20-30 different humanoids. A few humanoids that don't just become someone you kill but an interesting opponent and possible ally is more fun.

True. Maybe a half-dozen additional races, but with a deeper culture to draw on and different factions within those races.

Why do we need more races than presented in the book?  I personally don't want the official setting to turn into some D&D clone.  IMO, it has just the right amount of sentient races to feel like fantasy, yet still retain its own identity in the glut of published fantasy settings.

On this basis I think it would be really good to have all of these kin as playable.

Well, actually there is. :) This is the current list. The monster attacks for all of these are not written yet, so feel free to suggest some ideas. :)

Flying lizard (english name not set)
Wyvern?
How about Drake? Or are they just a smaller species of dragon?

Well goblins as you now know are the same kin as halflings, so they shouldn't be hard to play. Ogres I like a lot since they both are and are not a kind of their own. (you'll see what I mean when the setting chapters are published ;-) ) They for sure could be fun to play, while we've made the lizardfolk pretty dumb, single minded (carrion!) and they don't really like others, but I guess you could play them as well if you really want to.

Most of what I've read about drakes is meant as a synonym for dragon. Possibly a wingless dragon.

I understand your reservations about adding more races to the setting. I just feel that it could do with a few more sentient races to add some variation. I certainly don't want to see 5 or 6 additional books of races like D&D/Pathfinder, but a half-dozen well developed species that could either be antagonists or possible allies as the adventurers explore Ravenlands or other areas would, in my opinion, be beneficial.
I like what I see of the setting so far, it's not that I don't like the races presented, but I just feel a few more would be good too.
