You might want to swap Jedi's security tablet to something else as none of the sub-concepts have Data Djinn. Also, it might be a good idea to increase the gear options from 2 to 3+ per row if you are planning to have lots of sub-concepts.  :)

Anyway, feedback. Is there a reason why you decided to move some sub-concepts under different concepts? Also why not just use the existing concepts and add new sub-concepts to them?

Brains
  • Brains is a bit silly name for a concept. Academic or Scientist would sound much better.
  • Scientist is a bit too broad term to be a sub-concept.
  • Prospector definitely belongs under Trailblazer.
Entertainer
  • Looks more or less fine to me.
Force Adept
  • Seems like a good concept, especially if the gear selection contains things like amulets and charms that showcase the concept's superstitious nature.
Jedi
  • It isn't necessary to have Fallen and Sith as sub-concepts as you can portray them using the other concepts (e.g. Sith Marauder would be functionally identical to a Jedi Guardian).
  • If you gave Sentinel Infiltration instead of Endure, the sub-concept could also be used to portray Sith Assassins.
Leader
  • Nobles can be portrayed by choosing the privileged upbringing, so I would call the sub-concept Politician or such.
  • I would say that Officer belongs under Soldier concept.
Operative
  • Looks more or less fine to me.
Pilot
  • It isn't necessary to have a Gunner sub-concept, especially as gunners aren't really pilots themselves.
Scoundrel
  • Looks more or less fine to me.
Soldier
  • It isn't necessary to have a Weapon specialist sub-concept as it can be handled with suitable gear selection.
  • Gunslinger would fit Scoundrel better.
Tech
  • It isn't necessary to have both Engineer and Mechanic.
  • Outlaw Tech isn't necessary as you can portray a criminal techie with some other sub-concept.
Tough
  • Dockworker doesn't really fit in thematically with the other sub-concepts.
  • You might as well call the concept Warrior as it seems to be about melee combat.
Trailblazer
  • Deckhand and Trader don't fit in thematically with the actual trailblazers.

Thanks once again Kaeam. I agree with most of what you are saying. I am just getting the list down for the moment as I go through various Star Wars sourcebooks so I have the bases covered.

I think I might go back to the Coriolis 'names' for some, esp Scientist, but I would like to keep the Leader-styled Concept. And on that, Officer is there b/c if you outfit an army squad for eg, this is the PC with Empathy as key skill. I kind of want different ways to built similar concepts. So an actual officer will still get a couple of combat skills but has higher rep and based on Empathy. That is why it is not s soldier. You can still build a NCO using soldier, but I want a military leader subconcept too.

I was not sure where to put Deckhand etc. I was actually thinking of a Civilian concept. i have such a thing for Cypher game - as just playing a kid or someone not already highly specialised is part of early versions of Star Wars, but not sure really? I did not think Ship Worker was a very good concept (from Coriolis).

Mechanic and Engineer? Not sure yet. thinking more a mechanic = excellent at fixing all things; engineer is known for their designs work etc in more specialist areas such as droid construction, but will see if the mechanics support this.

Anyway, this page is in flux until I get around to all of them. They WILL change spots etc. I like many of your suggestions.

Oh and name changes are just place holders for now. I agree (and have said on our forums, "Brains" sucks for a name ;). Going back to Scientist.

But other Coriolis names don't make a lot of sense. My players are going into this game from a Star Wars BG, not Coriolis. They don't have the Coriolis book, have never played Coriolis and terms like Data Spider, Artist and Preach are either completely unknown to them, don't fit Star Wars or Star Wars already has it's own names for such things.

BTW I split Data Spider up. There is no Concept for this. I felt Slicer was enough to go under Tech. Still pondering. (Like many others, could change).

And you are right about such subconcepts as weapon specialist. With ONLY skills really distinguishing subconcepts from one another, it is often too hard to build different lists for close subconcepts, and I am finding many of them are better as Talents ;) (Just like there already is a Weapon Spec Talent - no need for subconcept - and this allows you to combine with others).
