Inspiration

Wed 22 May 2019, 01:00

Hi !

I just read in Coriolis book a list of inspiring movies, series and books for Coriolis.

Does it exist somewhere an official list of inspiring movies, series, books for Mutant ?

Thanks

I don't know about the english version but the swedish version has a couple listed in the back of the players rulebook.

Movies and tv-series:
A boy and his Dog
Book of Eli
Children of Men
I am Legend
Jericho
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Oblivion
Stalker
The Colony
The Road
The Walking Dead
Twelve Monkeys
Wall-e (especially for Mechatron!)
Waterworld

(I also read in the Mutant "history book" that they used Chicken Run (and thus The Great Escape) as inspiration for Genlab Alpha)

Books:
A Canticle for Leibowitz - Walter M. Miller, Jr.
Earth Abides - George R. Stewart
Efter Floden - P.C. Jersild (this one is swedish, don't know if theres any translations?)
I am Legend - Richard Matheson
Metro 2033 & 2034 - Dmitrij Gluchovskij (It hadn't come out at the time but I would also add Metro 2035 to that list.)
Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood
Sweet Tooth - Jeff Lemire
The Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham
The Road - Cormac McCarthy
The World Without Us - Alan Weisman
Wool - Hugh Howey

Music:
Ambient 4: On Land - Brian Eno
Book of Eli (soundtrack) - Atticus Ross
Eclipse - Oscillotron
Escape from New York (soundtrack) - John Carpenter
Fallout (soundtrack)
Infra - Max Richter
Krater - Christian Gabel (this is pretty much the canon "soundtrack" of the Year Zero world)
The Last of Us - Gustavo Santaolalla
Woven Hand - David Eugene Edwards

(I would like to add "Analog Trip II - Helium Kid Canon" to this list. That album together with Ambient 4, Infra and Krater (maybe also the soundtracks for fallout 1-2) set on random and repeat is all you need as mood music for a Mutant session.
