question on character generation

Thu 27 Jan 2022, 18:25

Hi all, i am loremastering a session, just done the character generation and in the rule book pg 47 "Starting Gear" it states
Starting heroes can choose one weapon for each Combat proficiency for which they have a rating, and their favoured selection of armour, helms or shields
We have gone through the races of men, dwarves, elves and hobbits in the preceding pages, and there is no mention of "favoured" armour types. We assumed it was refering to the type of armour allowed within the constraints of race/ standard of living, and calling, is this you guys understanding also?

Think of it as meaning "preferred". Just an unfortunate choice to use a term that has a mechanical implication elsewhere and that therefore ended up italicised, making it seem important.

That was my take as well, looks like they mean Favoured as in the player's preferred choice of armour.

It's an unfortunate formatting error, since it has nothing to do with the rolls being Favoured. The word should be lowercase and not italicized.

It should be put in the errata (or at least in the typos list).
It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.
