One Ring Dice Set

Wed 12 Jan 2022, 23:00

Hi all,

Just want to start by saying having received my order today I am really impressed by the production value and quality of all the books and accessories. The books look amazing, especially the collector's edition.

I do have one question though regarding the dice set. My understanding of the rules is that the Gandalf rune and Eye of Sauron should replace the 11 and 12. However on the dice set, the Eye of Sauron replaces the 1, leaving the number faces as 2 - 11.

Could anyone confirm if their dice sets are the same? If this is a rules change that I missed, or a mistake when printing the dice?

Regardless of the answer, I just wanted to thank Free League for an excellent Kickstarter and delivered product.

P16 of rulebook: feat dice are 1-10, 11 is the Eye, 12 is Gandalf rune. Might be a mistake with the dice printing rather than a rule change?

Wait...are you saying that the faces have 2-11, G, and Eos, but no 1?

EDIT: Yup, at 13:51 in this video you can clearly seen an 11 on the die.

Oh my god, no... Not a stupid mistake like this... :(
Hope it's not like this for every one.

If this does turn out as a universal production problem, (I've been reading the Discord channel on this exact subject earlier today - 11th Jan), then I am going to suggest here, what I posted over there: I would simply call the printed numeral 11 a score of 1. And get on with the game.

However, I am confident that the problem will be resolved in due course.
E.g. Free League may well send an email credit note to each backer to claim a new set of replacement dice in due course. Then, the next time an order is placed for TOR2e products (in my case Ruins of the Realm) the replacement dice can be put with the order.

Can I add my sympathy for the authors and the creators of Sophisticated Games and Free League, who clearly will not enjoy this inconvenience, and who must be disappointed that it has happened at all.
Whatever has led to this, my support will continue for this project.

Surprised nobody at Free League checked the quality of the components before signing off on the final production run - the feat die error is not hard to spot!

Hi all,

The dice issue seems to be a universal problem based on the discord server.

Was this missed in the proofs or a manufacturing error?

Claim it as a feature, not a bug:

Anychance of free League having a product recall and producing correct dice as I for one am not happy about this as I've paid for a product which is not correct.

I'd love a formal answer from free League on this.

Hehe, love the comment above - This one goes to 11

Anyway, I still haven't received my copy, so no rush to remedy this until everyone has gotten theirs.

Or maybe they wanted to emphasize the number when they ordered the dice. It's one! One! Which got them 11...
