Stylish handouts for new players

Thu 09 Sep 2021, 15:49

I'm converting my campaign from AiMe to TOR2a and made this set of handouts (or more loftily, Loremaster's Charts) to help myself and my players get oriented to the new ruleset.

UPDATED OCT 18 TO 2e CORE RULES
UPDATED to v1.1 OCT 31 with moar content...

Now includes:

Dice Rolls (formerly Action Resolution)
Journey Basics
*NEW* Journey's End
*NEW* Councils
Combat Basics (updated Combat Tasks + Disengaging)
Combat Actions (updated Special Damage)
Wear and Tear (Wounds, Endurance, and Hope)
Character Creation Quick Guide

(Under redevelopment)

Also, here's a Character Creation summary in one page: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7r2cg6r0x09ko ... t.pdf?dl=0

And lastly, my slight mod of the Character Sheet, making fuller use of the right hand column: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xmxmz1as89h2i ... t.pdf?dl=0

Thank you sooo much! I was planning on spending some time today trying to put something like this together for our first game this Sunday. This is so much better than anything I could have come up with.

Very nice! I really need to update the fonts on mine to the more modern fonts of 2nd ed. I'm in the process of moving mine from Inkscape to Latex, which will help with the neatness. Overall, I love yours. Very very nice.

Thank you! I owned but didn't play 1e (had the 2-volume slipcase) and find the cleaner, less-antique layout of 2e easier to digest. There's a chance we'll have our first 2e combat tonight, and I'm way more ready than before I made these handouts.

(Nerd detail: I used Garamond rather than Baskerville for the text and Avenir Next for the headings and tables (close but not a perfect match to the ALPHA).)

Very nice. Also, if you ever want to get rid of your 1st ed set, let me know. That's the only 1e thing I lack, and I'm enough of a Tolkien nerd to want to complete the set lol.

Are you planning to update the handout(s) to the published version of tor?

Did that this weekend and added Action Resolution! I've updated the original post (also uploaded the new file to Discord).
