Partial Cover around Corner of Building

Thu 09 Dec 2021, 13:25

The RAW says that leg and torso hits count as misses if the target is in Partial Cover. I just had a situation in which an enemy Marauder assumed Partial Cover around the corner of a building and aimed an RPG-16. A PC fired at him and got a "Leg" hit. Would you be able to aim a rocket launcher around the corner of a building without exposing at least one leg?

[EDIT]

Just thinking out loud, maybe one way to handle this would be to use a d12 instead of a d6...

1 - - - - -Right Leg
2 - - - - -Left Leg
3-8 - - - Torso
9 - - - - -Right Arm
10 - - - -Left Arm
11-12 - Head

Aiming "over" partial cover would hit on a 9-12
Aiming "around" partial cover would hit on a 1, 9, 11-12 or 2, 10, 11-12 depending on which side the target was leaning around.

This looks a lot like the d12 hit location dice I bought some time ago: https://www.thediceshoponline.com/clear ... n-d12-dice

That dice would work (not sure what the "Target" face means though - Shooter's choice?)

The probabilities are a bit different - greater chance of leg hit than arm hit etc.

I suppose for the closest to RAW method you could just roll the d6 hit location die that comes with T2K4 plus a normal d6. Leg/Arm hits count as misses on a 1-3 on the normal d6.

I finished my combat example as follows. I rolled a d6 and ruled that on a 1-3 the "Leg" hit result would hit the building corner instead. The NPC was suppressed, and I ruled that this caused him to step back into Full Cover and miss his turn (rather than fall prone - which makes no sense for someone shooting around a building corner IMO).

One more thing on this. The PC was firing an M240B machinegun and got one success, so did 3 damage. My d6 roll of 1-3 determined it wasn't the exposed leg but the one behind the building corner. House wall or brick wall is only Armour Level 2 so in theory, it might have passed through and scored 1 damage on the guy's leg. However, I think a corner is effectively thicker, say Armour Level 3, so I let it still count as a miss. So many little nuances in these rules that are great but require quite a bit of memory.
