Dual- and quadguns

Mon 11 Oct 2021, 19:05

Hi, I've checked the rules, but couldn't find anything on dual- and quad-guns, like the ZSU-23-4. If you attack with such a weapon, do you roll a number of ROF dice (up to the weapons maximum) and then multiply any hits by the number of guns in the weapon system or do you roll the chosen ROF x the number of guns (which could amount to a very large dice pool)?

In the 2nd version of the game, if I recall correct, you just multiplied any hits by the number of the barrels. Which I guess makes sense, since the barrels of the guns can't be that far from each other.

Any thoughts?

Thoughts: Roll 'em all! However, take the highest number of rounds fired from one gun and multiply that times the number of guns firing.

In all seriousness, I suggest building the 23-4 as its own weapon (like one would have to do for an M168 variant of the M61 Vulcan on the M163) with an ROF in the 12-15 range. Alternately, as the doctrinal engagement methodology is a 3-10 round burst (per gun, natch), leaving it ROF 6-8 (even though each gun shoots 850-1000 rpm) works, too.

After reading your answer, I've come to the conclusion that I'll just roll for one gun and then multiply hits and ammo usage by the weapon's number of guns, since the ROF of all the guns will be the same, at least very close to it.

Not saying that's a bad idea, but it does mean for the ZSU-23-4, you'll *only* ever hit with 4, 8, 12.. etc bullets which is a little weird

True, I've been thinking of their dispersion, is it common with multiple hits since the barrels are close to each other?

I guess I'm overthinking it, paladin2019's idea is better and doesn't produce 4, 8, 12... etc hits. Thanks for you input, both of you :)

The barrels aren't that close together really, by design. A good foot or two apart.
