Beta Feedback - Referee's Manual Chapter 1 The World at War

Tue 20 Apr 2021, 15:07

Please use this thread to report any typos or errors in Chapter 1 - The World at War in the Referee's Manual of the Beta PDF. Rules to remember:
  • Before reporting an error, please check and see if it already has been reported, and if so, don't report it again.
  • If you want to discuss or feedback something that is not a clear error, don't do it here - instead, please start a new forum post the specific issue.
  • If you feedbacked on something in the Alpha PDF and it's not changed in the Beta, it's there by choice - we have carefully studied all of the Alpha feedback, so please do NOT feedback on the exact same thing again, unless it's a clear typo or error.
  • Please report your feedback no later than May 1. After this date, we are unlikely to be able to make any further changes.

I know you Swedes have been yarning to rule your Southern brothers all the time since Gustav Adolf, but don't be too blantant about it ;-)

On page 02 (as well as in the PDF TOC), Germany is listed under Sweden and not below "Other Countries".

You seem to have forgotten one allied NATO partner (and founding member), wich share a border both with Sweden, and the Soviet Union, namely Norway. It seems strange and unrealistic that the US would not use Norway as a staging and resupply area for a war in Sweden. It seems strange and unrealistic that Norway would not serve as a staging area for a British enty into the fray. And also that Norwegian soldiers would not be a part of a NATO effort in Sweden. And also, seeing as the bulk of the Norwegian forces would be placed in the northernmost part of that country, where they shared a border with the Soviet Union, I miss some description of what would happen there. An invasion by Soviet forces into northern Norway, to secure the strategically important Norwegian atlantic coast, and the NATO military assets (especially naval) and airports there seems inevitable. So an independent Sapmi full of armed lapps, in an area bound to be full of either Norwegian (with support from the USMC and British royal marines, which have units ear-marked for this) , or soviet forces, seems unlikely.

As stated in the first post, this thread is not the place for questions like this. Please start a separate thread about it. This thread is for reporting typos and specific errors.

Page 01, Credits, "Feedback and Playtesting":

Might perhaps be a good idea to insert something like "dozens of Kickstarter backers and fans" as a special mention?
Same in the Referee's Manual.

EDIT: Same in the *Players' Manual, of course. But anyway.

I have some feedback on the use of Dutch forces, specifically in the Order of Battle pg.13

It's sometimes called the 'Netherlands' Corps, which is incorrect. It should state 'Dutch' Corps (like it does later in the paragraph). We live in The Netherlands but are called Dutch
As stated in the next post - we don't want to get it wrong :-)

<edit> I removed the discussion on the DE/NL corps to a separate post</edit>

Page 20: Marine Infantry and Artillery Regiments are officially named "Marine Regiments," the short name is typically "Marines". Eg. "10th/2nd/6th/8th Marine Regiments" ("10th/2nd/6th/8th Marines"). I understand the confusion that this can cause possibly give descriptors (Artillery/Infantry) in parentheses (though the NATO symbology should cover this anyways)?

Don't want to trigger us Marines lol :D I don't particularly care, but you can understand how people get when "it's not right."

Sources: 2nd Marines' Website, 10th Marines' Website, 2nd Marine Division And Its Regiments, a History and Museums Division publication from 1999 that illustrates using the official and short names.
