Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Good day, the group that I am in just finished last week using the life-path character creation method and overall we were happy with it but had a few things we did not think were great. First, we, like I am seeing on other posts, thought that aging effects started too young. Although it is possible to get hurt when you are young it just seems odd to be rolling in your 20's. We did get a cool suggestion from someone on a Discord fan site that would use a graduated check "On the forums, someone suggested a custom rule for Aging rolls, which we used and seemed to be a little more "real" but keeping the chance early: 2 term d12, 3 term d10, 4-5 terms d8, 6+ terms d6" As a person gets older, they have a greater chance of suffering an attribute loss.

The other part that was both good and bad was play balancing the randomness. We ended up with three of us that made it only through the 3td Term, one to the 4th, and one to the 6th. One of the players ended their career as a student with 1D6 books, the other ended (and because they got super lucky on their rolls) a combat monster with every specialty you can get for a combat arms person.

Just some things to stew on. Otherwise, we really liked the experience and it was a fun way to create characters together that felt like the old days of sitting around rolling up characters and it was a nice throw back to Traveler and Cyber Punk. It helped us put together our backstories as well as link players together to determine how we all got together and who is who's buddy and why.
