Resources for random characters

Wed 29 Sep 2021, 14:47

The random tables in the appendix seem to generate characters with very high resources values.
Any Aristocrat (from table 1 Class on p214) already has 5 base resources... which is more than, for example, a Hunters maximum starting resources (which is excerbated by the Hunter/Explorer - from table 3 Profession on p219). So an aristocratic hunter will always have resources 8 - double the class' normal maximum starting resources.
Is this intentional, or is there an error in the tables (e.g. reducing either all the values in table 1 or table 3 by 1 might generate characters whose resources are more in line with non-random characters)?

The background tables can generate characters with various stats that differs from the archetypes that they are based on so this is intentional. Aristocrats for example are born with a lot of resources (money, contacts, etc.). The tables can if you let the dice decide generate some unlikely combinations (like an aristocratic hunter). If you don't like those unlikely combinations, just re-roll any roll that falls outside the archetype span.
