Swedish Village Maps?

Fri 18 Sep 2020, 13:58

Hi All

Before I fall back on generic fantasy or other maps as a starting point, does anyone know of mappage for a period village set in Vaesen times? I presume often it was just a few wood cabins or something out in the wilderness, but it would be nice to have some artefacts of the time if they exist.

Cheers!

Thanks, yeah I had seen that, but it's really hard to navigate for an English speaker - although the page has an English version, the drop down boxes sometimes don't populate correctly and the quick start and tutorial downloads are in Swedish, so it's tough to know what I'm doing! The snippets I've seen seem to have some good resources though.

Yes, the one in A Wicked Secret is really good. The area map in The Night Sow is, too, but what if you need more villages? The website linked above looks cool but it’s Swedish, and it seems to have mainly 17th century maps. If anyone finds something English friendly, please share! ;)

"SOLDATTORP" (about 1850) -- Re: Swedish Village Maps?

Hi,
Although not a village in itself, the "soldattorp" ("soldier cottage") was often part of the (outskirts) of the village. The cottage had been given to the soldier as part of his contract with the state. (He got some other "payments" as well, like some animals and the rights to cut wood in the forest.) This was a way of getting a decent place to live, even at high risk of getting injured or killed being a soldier of course, should there be times of unrest.

The drawing shows both interior plan and exterior view.
