Mutations (New Question)

Sat 18 Jul 2015, 02:46

In the År Noll version there are 29 Mutations.
In the Year Zero version, there are only 25 Mutations listed. Why is there such a difference in the amount of mutations?

The Swedish rulebook with 29 mutations is the second edition of the rules. They updated the rules from the first edition. Most things of these updates was already included in the English rulebook. Except for some extra mutations (and artefacts, I think). I'm guessing that they will add those "missing" mutations and artefacts in an upcoming Zone Compendium.

Correct. The first Swedish edition had only 25 mutations as well. In the second edition (which came out after Year Zero) four more mutations were added.

Will there be any future updates to the Year Zero mutation card decks then?

I have a Mutation-related question - And I think it would save space to bring it up here than create a new thread that would end up having the same title and be about the same general topic.

When activating Mutations that are meant to deal Trauma - does the defender get to use Armour? A bit of a silly question perhaps, but I did not find any passages in Year Zero that says it does, or that it doesn't.

Yes. In some cases, it spelled out in the description. Unless clearly stated otherwise, armor does work against mutations.

It seems like it is about time for a Mutation deck booster pack. Any news on this? How do people feel about this? Any home brew mutations folks have out there? What about production of "blank" mutation cards.

The four extra mutations have cards in the Genlab Alpha deck.  Cryokinesis and Human Toad are written in the Dead Blue Sea zone compendium, as replacements to mutations from the main book that are less useful in an ocean-going campaign.  Regenerate and Beastmaster aren't in any compendia so far as I know.

Fria Ligan have said elsewhere that cards are very expensive to have made, which is why the NPC cards haven't been made in English yet, nor the Year Zero deck updated.  At the time, print-on-demand was suggested as an alternative and they said they'd look into it.  A pack of otherwise blank cards with Mutation, Animal Power and Artifact backs would definitely be a sure-sell with me.
