Mutation Misfire and Permanent Trauma

Greetings All!

I live and work in Japan and have been a big fan of Mutant Year Zero for while! I am going to be running 3 linked sessions at the ORIGINS Game Fair this year in June and I'm really psyched about it. :)

Got a question about Mutation Misfires (pages 69 & 70): How do you determine which Body or Mind Attribute is affected by the Misfire should a Biohazard (a 1) show up on one or more basic dice and then having rolled another biohazard (a 1) again for the permanent trauma. Does the GM choose? Does the Player choose?

Any thoughts would be great! I just want to be fair about it... don't want to kill a character who's already at 1 in any attribute or take away something they really want. I know it's my call in the end -- just want to hear what some of you may be doing out there.

If you roll a ☣ on the misfire table, the player chooses which attribute. If you look at the table it is written for the player to read (or the GM to read for the player).

That was going to be the way I did it... just wanted to make sure I wasn't misinterpreting the 'understood you'. The player choosing is the best option.

Everything fades -- everything rusts... can't wait to run this with convention players. ORIGINS is going to be great! I'll post my experience afterwards.
