Ships

Will the rules cover starship creation and modification? if we want to use ships not released with the core game.

Yes it certainly does J You and your group can decide your ship from scratch, where it was made, how big it’s gonna be and what kind of stuff you want on your ship(Garden add-on FTW!)

I was thinking about that garden shown in one of those ships already! I guess it's also for oxygen production... ?

Not sure I'll ever use one of those ships that comes with the KS rewards. And I'd rather those example ships were tightly bound into a compendium... all those leaflets in the Swedish box look like they won't survive the first day of play. :P

I guess those starship creation rules are hard-and-fast, i.e. an easy formula to balance weight/size, cost, maneuverability, number of expansion slots etc. plus, of course, a list of fine things you can add to these expansion slots? :D

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I see these kind of like the zone maps in MYZ. I've much rather have these as a loose poster to put in the middle of the play area than bound in a book. Will come in much more useful in play that way for me!

The great thing about this campaign is both uses can be had.  All we need is a little printer ink since we'll have the ships included in the core book and all backers at Space Nomad and above should have the pdf coming their way. 
I want all of the unlocked written material to find its way into a physical book...but I like knowing that I'll have the pdf so I can printout any visual aids and resources for the table as I wish.
