Anyone know where you can get good maps of local areas for 1980s UK locations?
I have googled, searched eBay, looked at the OS and Stanford maps sites etc., but they only have more historical maps or modern day ones. Will it require a trip to the local records office?
I've also looked for pictures, but again, there are lots from pre-1950 on the local historical society site, but the 1980s is not yet historical enough it seems.

Bit of a strange idea, but I would say you could try calling the larger libraries for the places you are thinking about. City Libraries usually keep records and momentos for study.

Hey,
Brit here.
It's either a good idea to type in the name of a specific city such as Crewe or Newcastle - Both have a good feel to them in the 1980s.
So for Crewe 1980s map I found this:
http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/history/dome ... 0.1986.jpg
It's a bit small but might help.
Alternatively I have found this site:
https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/
Just type in the city at the top left and then scroll down the list for more modern maps.
!980s stuff is nearer to the bottom.
I hope this helps!

I'd forgotten about Domesday reloaded! We did a D block back in 80s. Unfortunately it seems no-one did the block around my neighbourhood.
That old maps site is great though,

Second hand stores and used book stores might have what you look for.

So, in the 1980s my neighborhood had the Barnados Home for Boys next door to the psychiatric hospital. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm 48 so lived the 80's from age 12 to age 22 in the U.K.
It was grim and would need a large horror supplement
I have nightmares that Thatcher will rise again from the depths of the seas when the Markets are right.
It's leads to now.
Not good.
Stick to Sweden. It's friendlier.
