Adventure Site: Fort River Stone

Wed 19 Aug 2020, 23:37

This was basically designed with randomizer, plus some lovely brainstorming with Brior and my wife.

It was the first adventure site the adventurers explored in my campaign.

Fort River Stone

Placed in the Castle East of Lake Varda.

Small fort, about 50 people residing. It's kind of a trading post between the Meromannian dwarves in the West and the Ailander and Aslene plains in the south - following the river. The liege is Lady Nirinda, an Ailander noble who inherited her position. The place is in disrepair, and Nirinda has some pretty hefty tariffs for traders to raise the funds needed to repair walls, replace wooden palisade with stone etc. She has 2 primary problems: goblins to the North who raid out of Dankwood forest, and Saurians to the South.

Her lover is Miselda, the local Raven sister. Nirinda does not know that Miselda has is the keeper of an ancient tome of eldritch lore. Nirinda believes the tome is a myth. It's not. Also, the tome is actually the physical inhabitation of a demon. Miselda's predecessors withstood temptation, but Miselda has not, and now she wants to feed the tome blood to satisfy the demon and learn forbidden magic (Path of Blood).

The goblins are raiding because they know about the tome and are trying to get an idea of where it is, which is obviously hard, being...unwanted goblins.

A group of adventurers arrived just recently to try to steal the tome for their own purposes - their halfling sorcerer wants it to gain more power, attracted by the legend of the tome. Unfortunately, the sought it in the wrong place- the Keep - and all but one were caught. The escapee is an orc rogue - Ohro, who is now looking for anyone who might help him get his comrades out of the dungeons. Miselda wants to use any prisoners in the dungeon as human sacrifice to satisfy the tome.

Green Walker, an elvenspring druid, is arriving, too, attracted by the Legend of the tome, but to cleanse it. When he talks to Miselda, he'll get terribly disappointed to hear that the tome is a myth, because he will completely believe her - she's a Raven sister, after all.

A group of dwarves are camped outside with their load of iron ingots. They want to get to Aslene lands to trade them, but really don't want to pay the high tariffs and are really grumpy about those tariffs.

And that's about it.

:)

Brilliant bit, here:
