Hi Arthur

I love this, will definitely use for my CM recon team.

I see the FTL is range limited to 1.4parsec(4.5LY).
What FTL rating do you give it given the power and size limits for the tachyon shunt?
And/Or if the mission rates an experimental grav. drive?

If you look at G Class ships and less, FTL rating is 20 with Hull = 5 and Armor = 5. Corvus has FTL rating 20, Hull = 6 and Armor = 5. Starcub has FTL rating 15 with Hull = 2 and Armor = 4. But since it's a recon ship and it need to go fast. I would give a "gravity drive". But if not callibrated well, those engines will cause a severe course deviations (good for roleplays). I would give a FTL rating of 6 or 7 or 8 to those ships (gravity drive). I don't want to impose myself. Take the best option for you.

With the gravity drive installed to the UAS Alpha One (USCMC), you could change FTL range limited to 12 parsecs, same thing as the UPP SSV Belarus recon ship. I was looking at the Colonial Marines Operations Manuel, page 192. FTL rating is "3" for the UAS Fresleven, a Mantis class V-10A1113 equipped with a gravity drive (PCs ship giving by General Vaughn if PCs are loyal to her). So you could give a FTL rating of 3 to the UAS Alpha One if it has the gravity drive. More info about the gravity drive corebook page 152.

Thanks, Arthur, that answered my question and gave several interesting new options.

I'll probably start my party off in the stock Mantis V-10C 'Solito' that you illustrated so well for Chariot, presuming they survive Chariot.
Then we'll do corporate WY vis Seegson with BioNational neutral, and they can go back to their Seegson contact at Novgorad station.

(I've got a subplot around a missing/stolen Long Lance AST missile with 'hot shot' nuclear Captor 9 BPXL X-ray bomb pumped space mine and Zubrin sustainer motor(Nuclear Salt Water,200G))

Once they are into the underground experimental arms market I'll run DoW and then transition into CM campaign, with the party getting an opportunity to fly a 'stock' CM recon Alpha One with tachyon shunt/displacement drive, FTL12-15, based on the numbers you gave from Class G's. Then once they are in the colonial marines proper as special advisors on Tamb'itam, they can get access to the real high end special forces one with grav drive, say FTL5. Given what you said, I'm picturing it as a real hangar queen, spending more time in maintenance than out on missions, but it is the fastest hunk of junk they ever see, until they steal General Vaughn's 'Black Bart' (Mantis FTL 3) :)

Thanks again.

my pleasure ... I'm thinking doing CM missions (The Frontier War) soon. Since a Mantis class ship can be stocked in The Tambitam's hangar, I'm thinking to bring a mercenary group along (like the Elgyn crew on The Betty) joining the platoon for all missions like a special intervention team. The mercenary crew will be friend with the lieutenant and aside to Vaughn agenda. It's gonna bring a random element to the campaign and more fire power to the group. If thing starts not going well with Vaughn (choose not to be loyal to Vaughn), the group (PCs) can join The Mantis crew and still work for The secretary of Defense De La Cruz if they decide to go against Vaughn.

Nice, I like the random element of the merc team on the Tamby.

My group of 6-8 players enjoy troupe style play with multiple characters each.
So for the CM campaign in a year or so once we finish DoW I was planning to load the Tamb'itam to the max, as she runs out from Earth to Fort Nebraska, with both vehicles and troops.

Each player may have any survivors of Chariot or DoW as a special advisor, then a specialist marine(Recon/CBRN 1st squad, Assault/Gun 2nd squad) and a support/tactical marine from from 2nd platoon, 1st section , with spare regular marines from 2nd section. Then I was going to have 2nd platoon in cryo being 1 aerospace section(4 EVAC pilots, 2 backseat nav/wpns specialists and 6 ground crew) and 1 AFV section of 4 dedicated tank crew for the 2 Ridgeways and 8 artillery marines for the M292 SPG and M201 MLRS. This allows for all fighter scenes as they take out the Kremlin's MiGs, and 'meanwhile back at the firebase' scenes for calling in fire missions. I was planning to replace one of the Tamb's skiffs with your Alpha One for the recon team, and two of the Kremlin's MiGs replaced with your Atomics as a surprise.
