2,000 times better than I could have ever hoped to make myself! Thank you so much!
Nice rules!! Although they are clearly focused on playing Predators as PCs, because this system is complicated to play Predators as antagonists with the GM checking rage points... Hope Andy can write Predators as Aliens are in the rulebook, that is, only three attributes and damage tables.
That's pretty clever my dude, a way around the needle test might be to not have the equipment available to do it properly, the test being sabotaged, or by it being the "filling test" from the prequel, which isn't a confirmation of an individual being infected, it only puts them as suspects.Nice rules!! About the "The Thing" I had already thought about it. The agenda rules fits perfectly with "The Thing". Here it would be necessary some kind of secret so a player infected by the Thing could see he/she is infected without warning the other players. Maybe, this could be solved on each act... that is, when the GM gives the next act agendas, he/she could give "infected agendas" to the players if these have interacted with the Thing (and failed some roll for example).
But there are more problems: The test seen in the movie should be limited so an infected player cannot be uncovered easily, using mainly intuition.
I would love to see you do some expanded lore creatures, there's so many cool ones! Or other famous extraterrestrials like The Thing or since they're tied together maybe The Replicants from Blade Runner?I'd toyed around with the idea of putting the Thing in the game and made a post recently on reddit r/aliensrpg page about it.
I've yet to do it as I'm running my expanded version of Hopes Last Day tomorrow for first time, and dont want to start working out stats for a new monster until I get a feel for running the game.
Basically I'd thought of having it be somewhat antagonistic towards the Alien. The aliens are hard if not impossible for it to replicate and their blood can hurt it. They may even be created with the intent of hunting that type of creature down.
But basically take The Thing as a blueprint and replace the Swedish research station with a UPP research station, throw an alien egg in there, and replace the dog with a cat. Let the cat get on board ship BEFORE they meet crazed Russian who has become paranoid.
Cat infects some kind of livestock aboard and at least one player. If things are too easy, hatch egg.
Also the Predator link is both awesome and makes me sad as I was gonna do that...
Are the rules for Mutant Year Zero compatible or similar to the Alien rpg?Re The Thing: long before Alien was a twinkle in the eye of Free Leage, co-host Dave made a scenario for MYO
broadly similar. Pushed dice work differently, but you could switch out MY0 pushes for Stress dice easily.
