Praetomorph typo?

Tue 05 Nov 2019, 22:29

POSSIBLE SPOILER****

I assume that Praetomorph is supposed to be protomorph (The ones from Covenant), + The word appears in The engineer intro section randomly..

Moderator action: Moved the thread to GM section since it is a "possible spoiler".

Page 288

"Whatever they
call themselves, to modern humans Praetomorph
they are known simply as the Engineers"

Not angry or anything, this just might confuse some readers, as one Alien form is The proto/praetomorph

The random insert is on page 284.
Whatever they
call themselves, to modern humans Praetomorph
they are known simply as the Engineers.
As for whether it's supposed to be protomorph, the word is used often enough that it suggests to me it's intentional.

So for me, who hasn't managed to stay awake during this movie (two attempts, two failures). Is this that this book use the praetomorph spelling instead of something else?

Well, in Covenant The crazy Android David creates (assumedly) a new kind of Alien from The engineer created bloodbursters (dumb plot twist, but its there). Internet dubbed these Aliens "proto Aliens" not sure what Ridley Scott called them.

Honestly, Covenant was a weird movie... Sure it had some great parts, but overall it was kind of meh.. would love to say otherwise but...

PS: by The looks of his lab, he did it with some wooden spoons and surgical instruments xD .. urgh..

Ah. The next time I see it, I will prepare with a lot of coffee and perhaps the third time is a charm :)

I treat Covenant and Prometheus as SW 1, 2, 3. Like a bad dream, that will eventually fade from memory.

Will try to ignore those elements (blood burster, proto-/praeto) if I run a game.

While googling you only find the term "Protomorph" (from ancient greek prôtos "first"), but only a hand full of Preatomorphs.

But FL used it term consequently.
