Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

It's shown because the Alien is bipedal like a human. There are quotes from Ridley (and it's the ALIEN SECRETS section). "The nasty one, the thing that sprung out of the egg - the 'perambulatory penis' as we used to call it - is the father.  All it does is plant the seed.  And the next generati...

Re: Alien films

Everyone is looking at the alien behaviour as if they are real.
No I think people are looking at Alien behaviour to see if it's consistent.

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

It made it to the screen in Alien.

Ridley Scott talks about the host influencing the creatures characteristics in the Alien Official Movie Magazine from 1979 (page 53).

Re: Alien films

Alien had 12 module failing after Parker and Brett fixing it and again, Alien 3 had the candles going out.  Even if neither of these were intentional, it shows the Aliens choose to attack from cover of darkness, where their prey can't see.

I'm not sure where it's shown that Queens are a lot smarter.

Re: Is the thematic core of the Alien franchise Marxist and Feminist?

Giler and Hill wrote Lambert and Ripley specifically as women.  Though having said that, Roby in particular changed very little when he became Ripley.  By the time they came to casting I believe they were only looking at women for both Ripley and Lambert.

Re: Alien films

I think it's fair to say the Resurrection Aliens were a little more intelligent - intentionally so - with setting the complex trap for Elgyn and herding them into the flooded kitchen to the egg trap.  But Aliens aren't dumb and the Auriga creatures are so close to the originals it makes no effective...

Re: Alien films

The Aliens on the Auriga hiss and screech at each other.  All Aliens hiss and screech.  Why would the Queen only be able to communicate like this? The Fiorina creature spits acid to 'solve a problem'. There's no evidence that he Queen told them to back off from the sentries.  She was a kilometre awa...

Re: Alien films

Two turned on one in order to escape. The Aliens in the second and third films solved problems.  They retreated from the sentry guns, then found another way in and attacked ops from three different fronts.  In Alien 3 the creature used the airducts to get around a locked door and kill David, and use...

Re: Alien films

The Aliens in Resurrection abduct people and kill people.  Just like the Aliens in the other films.
