Re: [ALPHA] THE WORLD AT WAR comments/feedback

I've been scratching my head over the Swedish scenario. For instance: In the following months the odd missile came down, with Stockholm and Gothenburg being hit by multiple Soviet strikes. The nukes caused massive damage to the Swedish infrastructure and food riots became common. ... The first winte...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

So I'll count Aramis as endorsing my point that ammo quality needs to be in the game. :) ... and after that we can have, some extra water if you happen to play Italian, for the pasta 8-) There is limit and balance what detail you have on various things in a game. That said, we haven't seen the buil...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I suspect the dice are already contracted out to Q-Workshop for production, to allow for tooling time.

A bit OT perhaps but — do we know it'll be Q Workshop? The question was asked a number of times during the Kickstarter, but I never saw that Ligan responded to any of them.

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

On the subject of EMP(Medical), it is has become a common linkage in games since at least 2000 with D&D3e. That said, Empathy is the "interact with people" stat. Diagnosing a medical problem and assessing the treatment applied has a fundamental component involving this. Even House has a decent EMP,...

Re: [ALPHA] "so i am missing x vehicle/gear/weapon"

That's all fair game. But I personally would not bend the whole background around having the G11 featured in the core rules. I mean, I love 'Kraut Space Magic' as much as every other grognard, but that might be too much. ;) It's not just the G11. As you implied a couple of posts ago, the progressio...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

Oh, I see now, where you are going with this. I would not want to be Gorbachev in your timeline variant. :D I still do not see Germany becoming reunified without the signature of the USSR, though. I think the Western Allies would have tried to convince the USSR with all the money and promises they ...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

To clarify, then: "KPD" simply refers to the SED; I misnamed it. My mistake! To fill in a bit more detail: With several major army units redeployed (on the Army hardliners' initiative, N.B.; not the Kremlin's) from the DDR to "keep the peace" in Poland, the ball starting with the "Pan-European Picni...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

And thus 1991 closes, with an intact Soviet Union, a (mostly) intact Warsaw Pact, the Iron Curtain relocated to the German-Polish border — and a more belligerent Soviet leadership than anyone's seen since Stalin. I like a lot of this, but I do not see a casus belli anywhere on the horizon here. The...
