Re: What parts do you tell the players?

I'm looking at the "Adventures" booklet, mostly pages 6-8 which describes the history of the region and present events. Do you start the adventure by giving the players pretty much all of that information? Or do you start with a blank slate and let them figure out details as they wander t...

Re: Simple(ish) initiative homebrew

I'm in the "10 ain't enough slots for a 6p table" crowd. but in no way do I want to add any more teeth to the cards than they already have, and I prefer to shuffle less often, especially with how fast rounds snap by... So I'm using a standard French suited bridge/poker deck, with jokers. w...

Re: Encumbrance of excess weapons? Unworn Armor?

I note from the rules that the first 3 don't count... but I've two players with 4-6 weapons (and placed in ways I can legitimately see as reasonable for drawing from). The simplest case being the bandolier of 6 knives. Another has sword, shield, dagger, and spear... Likewise, what's the enc of unwo...

Re: Encumbrance of excess weapons? Unworn Armor?

I think, then, it's going to be Armor: Enc = AV unless worn - to prevent people hoarding it. (which they already are, given the not-quite TPK last session.) excess Weapons: Long =2, most others 1, daggers only 1 for a brace of up to 6; slings none. I made a call tonight that the backpack itself hold...

Re: Familiar

I like a lot of that (summoning a spirit to possess an existing creature is a nice, dark touch), but permanent WP sacrifice seems like a steep cost given that you could lose it forever if it gets into a fight..! that's pretty standard for BRP/RQ derivatives. If not a bit low. RQ3 (1984 - AH edition...

I'd not mind one... but there are several other equally good works inside...

Re: Shift Rest and Baths

Very valid points! Thanks you both for your insight! You're welcome! One other thought... Weaknesses. Noting that they need not be restricted to the table... Vain characters would probably want a bath so they can get compliments. Other, non-table, weaknesses could very strongly encourage bathing. R...

Re: Why is Golem associated with Demons?

Medieval and early Renaissance Christian theology tended to consider the Jews in quite a negative light... and esoteric Judaism even worse. Likewise, it was considered that the ultimate sin was to try to do "what only god can do: create life." Creating golems was explained in some Christia...

Re: Shift Rest and Baths

As per pg. 80 of the current version of the Rules, one can buy " Bath at an inn " as a service, healing a Condition of their choice during a stretch. At the same time, a Shift rest heals all Conditions, and a Stretch rest heals one Condition. Would you consider an inn to be a safe enough ...
