Re: Thoughts on how Free League will get us into Moria

HMM. If the Vanity Fair article is reliable, then Amazon are expanding on the necropolis of Peter Jackson's vision? That's OK for some I am sure, but I think I will back Free League's way of illuminating the Long Dark. Tbf the portrayal of the size of some of the halls of Khazad dum in the first fi...

Re: Gondor-TOR

...... So I take it with the first edition of TOR. I‘d call people of Gondor and the Heroic Cultures: Men of Minas Tirith, Men of Dol Amroth, Men of Gondor (for more rural areas) or Men of the South Havens (for people of Pelagir). Thus it is more a cultural question than if those are „pure“ Dunedai...

Re: Gondor-TOR

I agree that there are few utterly and completely pure-blooded Numenoreans left in Gondor. However there has to be enough that the Houses of the Stewards and Dol Amroth have a 'pure' bloodline and are not fatally inbred. And inbreeding happens in Middle Earth, JRRT mentions it talking about the Drue...

Re: Gondor-TOR

I can see removing Axes from the weapon choices. I can also see a range of prosperity levels... Gondorian Common Men [the equivalent of Bree-men] being Common and the Dunedain being Prosperous [it's good to be the ruling class after all]. The Southern Dunedain were more focused on the physical and p...

Gondor-TOR

I'm sure Gondor will be addressed at some point in the future by Free League. No doubt plans for Rohan, Lorien, Mirkwood, and so on are also on the list for future discussion. But until those happen, what are people's thoughts on how Gondor would look in the current rules? Certainly, Gondor would be...

Re: Middle-earth Enterprises interested in selling their Tolkien rights

As an aside to all this, Iron Crown released all it's Middle Earth Roleplaying titles for open sharing when they lost the RPG license way back when. Those who possess those titles can freely share them 'round. If you get any of them, please note that ICE's method for getting around the LotR timeline...

Vid: Kremlin Coup, August 91

For those who want some historical context to the Reformed USSR in T2K4, let me direct you to a short, six-minute video on youtube. 'History Matters' and 'The History Guy' are two content-creators that I very much like. For one thing, they often cite sources in their historical pieces, will respond ...

Re: Foraging Water - how many rations?

As an aside, our group also came up with an SOP that has us boiling all water and washing our canteens out every time we scavenge water with them. Yeah, it's a pain in the butt, but so is dysentery  If the water is really suspect, we run the water through a gas mask filter after boiling. It wo...

Re: War Dogs

Good input. I appreciate the thoughts of an actual dog trainer [beyond just 'sit' 'stay' 'shake' and 'don't pee in the house' :D ]. I'm certain there will be people around who can train a dog to be a hunting dog [a pointer or grabber] or a sentry dog, but I don't see there being all that many people...

Re: Foraging Water - how many rations?

In our group, we decided that 'one canteen /bottle' [or roughly 1.5 liters] was one 'ration'. Different situations [hot weather, heavy work, military rations, etc.] will require the consumption of more than one water ration per person per day. If a person goes off with 5 canteens to scrounge water, ...
