Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

Forgot to add: that choice does ignore the significant ergonomic advantages of the AR, another reason for its major success with people concerned first and foremost with performance. FWIW the emergency reload standard for an M4 is under 3 seconds (maybe 2.5?) -- and much to my annoyance, I can't bea...

Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

You’ll note BTW that Special Forces soldiers, when in need of something with very high durability and reliability for extended periods in the field, tend to ditch the Armalites very quickly, and pick up a Kalashnikov-pattern weapon instead ... even, or perhaps particularly, Americans seem to do tha...

Re: My two cents about small arms in TW2000

I agree with both sides (and yes, we're having this discussion in a few other places -- go figure, Twilight draws in a crowd that has strong opinions about blasters!) On the one hand, reality is that there's not actually a whole lot of difference between most weapons of similar type. On the other ha...

Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

Again, big big differences between Big Army logistics and procurements (in pretty much *any* big army) and what is actually desirable to the boys on the ground. You might personally like the L85, but the fact is in actual service that seems like a pretty rare reaction. Other bullpups have fared bett...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

It's nice to get a look at some of the mechanics; the dice being A-D compares to 2-5 in the others for PCs...2A 3B 4C 5D... Looking forward to the PDF... Whats the reason for labeling different dice with A-D instead of using the normal die abbreviation? Sounds confusing and pointless unless there i...

Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

The US Army has never in modern history successfully adopted a major piece of equipment in a rapid fashion. The XM4 got adopted pretty quick. Special use deployment within 3 years of acceptance; general adoption for purpose within the decade. 11 years and it was now the main infantry rifle... ... e...

Re: What is this exactly?

Hmm. I own them both, but admittedly it has been quite a long time since I've looked at any of the book. Maybe I'm thinking of the source books which I've definitely looked through some of more recently.

Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

The US Army has never in modern history successfully adopted a major piece of equipment in a rapid fashion. I definitely can think of no reason why the G11 would be any different. Look at how long the discussion has been going on about adopting the 416 in US service, a weapon fundamentally incredibl...

Re: Vehicles, kit , etc

I have to imagine that, adopted or not, the G11 would make an extremely poor weapon choice for the Twilight world. Unless logistics for producing the unique ammunition had ramped up truly massively before war broke out, along with huge quantities of spare parts for the weapon itself, enormous burn r...

Re: What is this exactly?

There was always an option to play as civilian character, or non-US military characters, but from some of the public statements FL have made there will be more of an emphasis on allowing you to play non-military characters this time around.
