Re: Single and burst fire?

Yeah, you've got to get out of the literalist mindset and into a slightly bigger picture one. Once you've done that, the system actually produces pretty realistic results a majority of the time. And you have relatively free latitude to interpret those results and describe what happens. Meanwhile, I'...

Re: Jamming weapons

Would you still have the reliability decreasing on 1’s on Pushed rolls? I.e. both mechanisms are not mutually exclusive (which I think is fine)? I’m thinking yes - i.e. only the Jam rules change Yes -- that's the aspect that will both make jams more likely, and require players to maintain their gun...

Re: Single and burst fire?

Gotta be cautious about stuff like that. The rules exist as they do already in a form that somewhat abstracts combat in a way that, I very strongly believe, actually much better represents real actions than any system that gives characters total control over their shots. The single-shot rule was alr...

Re: Wanting to hear some thoughts - tweaker skills

Aw damn, I thought we were gonna get a lot of meth-related skills! The problem that you run into always with this sort of thing with trying to keep the skills balanced out to their parent attributes is that a lot of it just makes no sense. There's already been debate about Medical Aid under Empathy,...

Re: Jamming weapons

Yeah, that's what I suggested in whatever other place we were discussing this. I like it in concept; it doesn't require another roll, it scales rarity with reliability in a very non-linear way; etc. But, it is one more thing you need to keep track of, especially if your reliability ratings CHANGE du...

Re: Single and burst fire?

The issue with that second one is that you have to not know they're there to begin with! Some talk was done regarding shooting-for-suppression (and an increased role for MGs in particular) a while back. Nothing really came of it, unfortunately. Same with linking range to automatic fire effectiveness...

Re: First Edition Vehicle Guides

Honestly, the naming conventions are not all that complex. Once you learn what a few of the letters mean, it becomes as clear as the "Mk." convention or the "Block convention" or, certainly, the "A2A1" convention. The real headaches come essentially from Soviet politics and manufacturing concerns, w...

Re: Jamming weapons

That's pretty good Kastor. I don't love that it adds yet another roll, but it'd be not very often so maybe it's fine if you're just not getting enough jamminess in your game. Another mild thing you could do is reduce reliability by 1 whenever you get 2 or more mishaps, even if you don't push. It's n...

Re: Single and burst fire?

Yes: don't roll all your ammo dice. 2 or 3 ammo dice works pretty well most of the time.

BT-76 - fictional, I think?
The PT-76 is the real tank. it exists in 4e as a polish tank. it's amphibious which is cool for crossing rivers and lakes
Right, except the description for the BT-76 explicitly also mentioned the PT-76
