Re: Infantry Squads

On the subject of AK variants, what would be the explanation for why the AK-74 has a range of 6 but the AKM only has a range of 5? Is it something to do with lower recoil? Theoretically , the 7.62 has longer range. However, 5.45mm has a much flatter trajectory and faster speed, meaning it's more li...

Re: Creating Your Own Maps: Military Style!

One nice thing this also has is all the graphics for stability operations -- I could see that being real handy for a T2K campaign. Maybe if your group is real nerds you'll pair it with a pattern analysis plot! Could you explain that concept a bit more. It sounds deviously interesting for my campaig...

Re: Creating Your Own Maps: Military Style!

Are there any sources of 1990s era maps of Poland and Sweden? In some ways I wish they'd advanced the timeline to 2025 or something so maps would be easier to deal with. The best are Soviet military topographic maps, of course. (to this day they are the best maps of most of the third world produced...

Re: Adventure hooks

I did something like this as part of a session 0 combat introduction for my group. I fully expected several of the PCs to die or get seriously wounded, so I built it as a sort of "different guys somewhere else/flashback/dream sequence" thing just so they could learn the basics of the system and the ...

Re: Creating Your Own Maps: Military Style!

Pretty rad. I've been building stuff out using OpenTopo and OSM sources anyway... this puts it all in one place. If only there was a way to make it "multiplayer" for my VTT usage! I may still just try streaming it. Note that you can also apply a hex grid -- unfortunately the grid comes in only 3 pre...

Re: Vehicle Cannon Stats Look Off (HE vs HEAT vs APFSDS)

I think the only reason is simplicity. Which is fine and maybe even ideal. However, if you've got a group that want to be tankers, and especially if they know anything about it, it's probably gonna rub the wrong way. Here's the things missing from the rules in that regard: Rules for falling velocity...

Re: Number of Players for Twilight 2000

I've found 4 (not including GM) to be pretty good. 5 is fine, as I imagine 3 would be. 6 would be pushing it IMO, but it all depends on group dynamics, as always.

Nope. 1D6 is the absolute minimum and 2D12 is the absolute upper limit.
