Re: Fuel for thought

All that coal, and left over steam engines suggests to me the return of a weapon of war with a long Polish history - The Armoured Train.

Re: Fuel for thought

The abundance of coal in Poland will certainly have a large local impact. Power stations will probably be abandoned due to the breakdown in the electrical transmission system. However coal is great for heating houses and provides fuel for working metal and other tasks. It makes the use of steam loco...

Re: [ALPHA] My many notes on the Player's Manual

I agree that the smart marauder gang will impose itself on some farming community as "protection" - from themselves and from other marauders. The problem will come from outsiders - other marauders wanting to take over, groups of deserters desperate for food, militias expanding their territ...

Re: [ALPHA] My many notes on the Player's Manual

This is where the Canton system comes in. Even with nuclear strikes and years of fighting and hunger the bulk of the population will still be alive. What would develop is a kind of feudal system - voluntary or not - where armed soldiers protect civilians who in turn provide the soldiers with food an...

Re: Scavenging Question

Yep, my bad. I'll have to watch that. In the Australian Military we use scavenge as in "we are going on a scavenger hunt" and "lets scavenge what we can from the wreckage" rather than scrounging and scavenging as different words.

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

My players always go for stealth and ambush wherever possible.

This is what I mean by the need to playtest across many groups with many different combinations of Skill, Attribute, weapons and ammo usage to see if the balance feels right.

Re: Fuel for thought

It is just a general discussion on how things could have been. Most people will go with the rules as is, that alcohol will power any remaining vehicles, and leave it at that. A few may be interested in using energy and fuel as part of the game story, particularly once base-building is added in. Ever...

Re: Scavenging Question

I think the time is to reflect the fact that after 3 years of war and deprivation all the low-hanging fruit scavenging wise will have be taken a long time ago. Personally I think specific locations should increase the chance of finding certain items while reducing the chance of finding others. Hence...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

The thing to remember is that you always get a Skill and Attribute roll in addition to the Ammo die. So a character with As or Bs in both have a good chance of hitting before rolling Ammo dice. I have done one play test with a friend who created a high skill operator and they hit a lot and usually o...
