Re: [ALPHA] Scrounging, Foraging, Hunting limitations

A moose yields three times as much food as a rabbit; 1.5 times as much as a boar?? Are these mutated super rabbits and boars, or some to me hitherto unknown species of miniature moose...? Of course when you finally have shot a moose, you only pick the finest part of it, can't be greedy :D Ah ... of...

Re: [ALPHA] The UK in 4E is still a bit... problematic

It is indeed a term, with a historical meaning — and it is also a fairly commonly used one.

I have not seen any reason to interpret its use here as anything else than being within that context. It's the Monarch, and it's His Majesty's Ministers.

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

Like Arrigo's war scenario. I'll call my previous post "Chapter 1: History Breaks (pre-1991)"... Those events would activate a lot of the events that we've discussed in multiple threads before the Alpha — how the "End of History" policies are not introduced, how Western politicians do not start cash...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

Had the GKChP had the courage to try to assassinate Yeltsin instead, events might indeed have followed a slightly different course for a while, as that would imply that the GKChP would have been an entirely different body from what it was in history. Who knows, perhaps it might even have been able t...

Re: Keep Calm and Carry On

Anyway, I have no interest in fanning any flames here Interesting statement, in context. But it's even more interesting to know that you actually have access to poll data, so that you with such certainty can assert that this indeed is a question of 8,000+ backers vs. 1! Perhaps you would like to sh...

The Government is surely Her (or in this instance, "His") Majesty's Government?

Then the ministers surely must, by extension, be Her (His) Majesty's Ministers?

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Yup. It is of course “realistic” in a sense that with a full automatic weapon, you can choose how much volume of fire you lay down on a sliding scale from 1 to full cyclic. But how often do you actually fire anything else than tightly controlled bursts (we learned three-round bursts) or full cyclic ...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

I think that at this point is more important to propose fixes for the real issues, rather than cosmetic quick fixes, that frankly, just broken a broken thing even more. There are many ways to skin this particular cat. However, while I feel the issue is important and really needs to be addressed, I’...

Re: [ALPHA] An attempt at summarizing the world building discussion

Oh, if the timeline diverges only where it’s been said it does — August 1991 — then it’s impossible to keep the Pact! It had already been formally dissolved earlier that year, by which time several states already had seceded from it as their Communist regimes fell. The only way to keep it around is ...
