Re: Discussion of Shadow and Corruption

Indeed, bout of madness makes you think of Denethor, who was exposed to Enemy directly through the Palantir. The rules are there to create Boromir moments, moments where PCs succumb to their inner deamons, not become mad. So rewording these rules could be important. When Shadow manifests in a PC, it...

Re: The Nadir's return

The Darkness between the stars is everywhere between the stars, literally. In the Darkness points system, up the further from a star you travel, the more DPs you generate per week or day of travel. It’s actually a mechanic in the game. The between Portal space or wormhole is a mystery, since people ...

Re: Ensnaring quality & Ensnare & Whip Fighter Talents

Well first of all, the Ensnare capacity of the weapon happens with your attack, lets at least get that out of the way. So you use a Combat action to attack with a whip, eventually using an Active effect from another Ability, and roll to see if you entangle. If you want to use the Ensnare ability to ...

How many XP do maxed out PCs have?

Hello everyone! I'm GM a new campaign, and it seems to me that because the system is so rules light, that PCs will run out of development options pretty fast (or worse, become all alike). In your experience, at what XP level does the game breakdown? That would help me calibrate the amount I give out...

Re: Official help on lock picking.

Good points! I guess Assassin and Spy don’t get technology because technology is such a wide ranging skill. But players getting the lock pick equipment should definitely invest the One build point in Technology. The game is very rules light, with a tiny bit of crunch in equipment section. I'm GMing ...

Re: Explosives are underpowered??

I find explosives a bit weird also. Grenades are particularly useless by RAW. I'm tempted to augment Damage and range, and have the person next to the charge at Crit 1, and further away at Crit 2. The low BLAST could also benefit from bonuses in some cases. Regarding grenades, they don't explode on ...

Re: Helping others with command

According to RAW, I would say yes. It's not cristal clear, but it seems that Command lets you replace an automatic +1 bonus for the number of successes on the Command roll.

But I would say you often need GM fiat to rule this in game, since roleplay and the situation can sometimes override this.

Re: Costs of living, everyday expenses and ship life!

And you need to pay the Spartan lifestyle in an advanced environment fee. Which is 500 birr per month per person.

That's 14 birr a day. Binoculars cost 100, so 14 a day is still pretty cheap!

Re: About to Start A Game

I agree with the above. For me the most important thing is to carefully read all of the PCs abilities and traits. Some abilities are open to interpretation because the wording isn't super detailed. Decide before the session how you will rule these and tell the players in advance, so they aren't disa...
