Character Creation

Here's hoping we get something like Forbidden Lands lifepath system as an option for character generation. I want to make a few dice rolls and a minimum (none if possible) choices to get new characters quickly and ready to go. Does this seem reasonably likely? (Thinking both about previous versions ...

Re: Some thoughts on combat…

I was going to start a thread on initiative but then found this thread. So it seems like the advantage to going early in the round is that you get to deliver damage quickly and maybe take out the bad guys before they can attack. The advantage to going late in the round is that you can use your acti...

Re: Shooting into Melee?

One could adjust the cover dice situationally but I’d say between 3 and 6. Also, unless there’s a critical injury the damage may just be having to strain to dodge at the last moment, stress, or getting a superficial bump in the fight while distracted so it doesn’t necessarily mean the other target w...

Re: Shooting into Melee?

People are also moving in a way the archer can’t predict.

I’d give the target cover dice. Any damage blocked by the cover hits the ally.

Re: In your games, are characters allowed to run/move while drawing their weapons?

Yes, but I use a house rule. I assign the actions a point value (which is kind of happening in the background of the mechanics anyway and functions like coriolis). Slow actions are 2 and fast actions are 1. You are allowed 1 slow and 1 fast or 2 fast as per normal. But you can also take addition ac...

Re: Has anyone gotten to the point where they don't have to refer to the action tables?

I might get the edge case wrong from time to time but I’d be confident enough to play without referencing them.

Re: How to cope with overpowered PCs?

Lucky and executioner are fine except at level 3. I’ve still never fully come to terms with them. Though for that matter, I’ve never seen them in play at level 3 either.

Re: Executioner Plus Spells

Oh, huh, my first response would be that it’s just physical attacks. But I can see why you’d go the other way too.

Re: Effects of Crits when not Broken (Axe 2)

A critical injury could be a bleeding forehead. They will be fine and keep fighting. It could also be a decapitation. They can't keep fighting. They are dead. What happens depends on the crit. Thanks, I figured those out on my own. I'm talking about things like internal injuries, organ damage, limb...

Re: Combat

Well there’s no attack option as such. It’s slash/stab/punch(kick/bite).

So it’s not that you can only “attack once” it’s that the above are slow actions (usually) so you’re limited in how many you can do by slow/fast economy. A “grapple attack” is a fast action so you can do two of those normally.
