Re: Designers' Journal

I have not played the original Symbaroum, but it looks amazing. I am curious how you will implement the gritty feel of Symbaroum in 5e. I see that you will not get HP back on long rest, requiring an extended rest. Are you sticking to Rules As Written for death, dying, and resurrection, or are there...

Re: Interrupting a Long Rest

Yes, if your long rest is interrupted you don't get the benefits. It's always important to make efforts to make sure that you won't be interrupted if at all possible!

Re: Designers' Journal

Thanks for sharing Jacob. I was looking at the Symbaroum GM's Guide and I found the "Movement in Davokar" section interesting, are they going to be converted into the 5e version as special exploration rules and might having a Hunter (or perhaps the Explorer approach of Scoundrel) in the party give ...

Re: Spells for mystics

Hi guys, I've just been reading the Ruins Of Symbaroum 5e OGL Spreads V 1.01, I'm a little confused about how the Mystic Approach Of Wizard works regarding spell acquisition and usage. From what I understand a 1st Level character gains 6 cantrips and two 1st Level Wizard Spells and Detect Magic as ...

Re: Designers' Journal

We talked a little about the hunter class on the youtube chat yesterday, so I figure it's worth talking about them in some more detail in this format. Hunters do have some base wilderness survival skills. They're not automatic, so it is still a good idea to have supplies and take advantage of any op...

Re: Spells for mystics

As for favored cantrips being usable at will (without corruption), aren't you concerned that it might change the flavor of Symbaroum? Also, if I can cast Fire Bolt all day long, there is no reason to learn Magic Missile (1d4+1 corruption). There will probably be a slightly different feel to Ruins o...

Re: Spells for mystics

One thing I don't understand is why, in the Theurg spell list, cure wounds cannot be a favored spell, but healing word can. The primer is a rules-sampler and of course things might change before the end. At the moment, from a Watsonian perspective it's about the amount of power being used to overri...

Re: Designers' Journal

Hi! I'm following with great interest the Ruins of Symbaroum kickstarter for 5e and I'm really loving the setting and the mechanic adaptation to 5e, a couple of questions: 1) The Wizard approach seems a bit overpowered in comparison with the Theurg: it has the 5e wizard spell list and d8 hd/light a...

Re: Spells for mystics

The general rule is that if we could use the OGL spell without modification, we kept it. If we could tweak the spell for Symbaroum, we tweaked it. If a mystical power or ritual didn't exist in the OGL list, we made a new spell. So it will be a mix — a lot of familiar resources for folks familiar wit...

Re: [Moved] General use of the term 5E

5e is a term that the industry has come to rely on to refer to products that use the Open Game License (OGL) to publish material compatible with the fifth edition of the first published roleplaying game. Unfortunately being any more clearer than that is difficult for us as representatives of Free Le...
