Re: Player background briefing

Will there be a PDF that we can hand out to the players so they can get background and theme in advance?
You could probably make one... though why would you deprive yourself of introducing players to the universe yourself, with your own words and thoughts, plots and angles? :D

Re: Firefly meets Arabian Nights

Excellent stuff there, Octo, just excellent.  Not sure I can add a lot. Firefly , to me, was a series about a family. A band of brothers and sisters with less than 50% actual soldiers/fighters that made a run-down ship their home. And "home" is the imperative word here, and I think...

Re: They just found the Second Horizon

Best case scenario we are talking 8000 years with our best technology to reach it? More or less, no? Our technology will become better, but we don't even have 1000 or 500 years left. Humanity won't make it through the next 200 if temperature/UV ray rise aren't stopped (effectively stopped and rever...

Re: They just found the Second Horizon

This is pretty awesome. Although, wouldn't that be the First Horizon (Sol and surrounding stellar systems?), if I understood the setting correctly? Well, yes, strictly speaking. It's stil awesome – of course, even if they actually find water during the next decades, it's unlikely we'll be alive to ...

Re: Mystics

And the other players would start hating him...  You know, thanks to the darkness points, I'm really not that sure. The GM can balance things out and has a rather quantifiable way of measuring power overuse. Way back in the early 90s I dabbled in the Star Wars p&p. I frankly didn't allow Jedi c...

Re: Ships 2

Got a related question, are there basic rules for non-ship vehicles? Mutant Year Zero had some pretty decent, uncomplicated rules and I'm hoping something similar applies here as the ship is a character in itself while the gear is more like equipment by comparison. The combat chapter may even conta...

Re: Mystics

Getting darkness points to use these powers seems a rather hefty price already... It's basically fuelling the DM's madness.
I guess the mystic who uses his powers without restraint will inevitably end up the butt of the session every time.

Re: A Dark Mind...?

So please don't ruin the mystery by explaining it. :) So, no Mercy of the Icons campaign for you? Me too. :P But I do also think that of course you should call it faith in Coriolis, and it is! Because while effects of prayer may be scientifically quantifiable, whatever causes those effects remains ...

Re: A Dark Mind...?

Again I yearn for that timeline. ;)

"How many years ago has it become evident that prayer has a direct, measurable, scientifically proven positive influence on success chances?"
"At what point in time has the first mystic "miracle" occurred?"

Re: Cybernetics

It's not just an aesthetic choice, sometimes more rugged and clunky tech is flat-out better in more extreme environments than the sleeker, wireless, sexier tech. . If a world has any significant kind of debris in orbit, and the spacefaring folks usually do, you can forget about shooting satellites ...
