[ALPHA] No Differentiated Turret Armour values!

Tanks and APCs with Turrets in the game do not have differentiated Armour Values. Both 1e and 2e1 (and TW2013, dunno about 2e2 as I never had a copy, though I expect it did as well) ALL had separate Armour Values for Turret and Hull ... for the simple and obvious reason that the real world armour va...

[ALPHA] Crossbows are NOT Super weapons compared to Bows

Crossbows as a 'super' weapon?!? Crossbows are mishandled by pretty much every RPG because designers read the 'pounds' (or kilos) draw weight and compare it to the same for regular bows and say 'whoo-hoo! Super weapon!' The problem is that that ignores basic physics. The Longbow with a typical 120-1...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

HEAVY WEAPONS such as RPGs, grenade launchers, mortars and howitzers don’t use ammo dice. Instead, each attack consumes one round of ammo. BOWS AND THROWN weapons also don’t give you ammo dice. Each time you shoot a bow, one arrow or thrown weapon is used. Player's manual, p 61 Something like that ...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I can agree that weapon reliability decreases a little to fast (I have not tested the system so I don't actually know how this plays out). Regarding CUF, I think it already plays such a big part in the game and if you are an experienced shooter you already benefit from that by using SCB (use ROF 1 ...

Re: [ALPHA] Temporary Alpha Feedback Place

The use of the scale D to A mimics the grading system that is used in many countries. Not in Australia ... we give number grades (often, but not always, out of 20 or %) which are often then expressed as a 1-5 Grade (at least in NSW until six years ago when I retired after teaching High School since...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

None, but you have to roll it. If you roll a one (and one bullet you do have) you can have a mishap. If the weapon in question is a Revolver then the 'mishap' is likely to be cleared by the simple expedient of pulling the trigger and rotating away from the dud round. There's a small chance, admitte...

Re: [ALPHA] Twilight 2000 and Twilight 2300 aka worldbuilding

TW2300 ...? I must have missed that game completely! I played (the somewhat misnamed) Traveller: 2300 (from 2nd ed. known as — the rather better chosen — 2300AD ) quite extensively back in the day, but I was completely unaware of a Twilight: 2300 game! Darn . My memory is going, and I'm only 66! Yo...

Re: [ALPHA] Twilight 2000 and Twilight 2300 aka worldbuilding

Well, 'Howling Wilderness' was in fact a GDW supplement for T2K describing an environmental cataclysm in the US, if I recall (and a supplement that seems to have come in for a lot of criticism). But I think it was always suggested that Germany and Poland were the most severely devastated regions on...

Re: [ALPHA] Twilight 2000 and Twilight 2300 aka worldbuilding

Death during character generation was an old feature of Traveller, not only 2300 No, you're missing the point. The character generation system of TW2300 1e 1st Printing was such that you could only create a character who had EITHER 1 HP OR was DEAD It wasn't intended to be that way, it was sloppy p...

[ALPHA] Twilight 2000 and Twilight 2300 aka worldbuilding

Those of you who played TW2000 1e probably not so fondly remember the abortion of a game that GDW put out called TRAVELLER 2300 (in 1e your characters had a 50:50 chance of starting the game either with 1 Hit Point or 0 Hit Points [aka DEAD] thanks to stellar proof reading!) ... For those that manag...
