Re: My two cents about small arms in TW2000

Actually, V1 pistols and revolvers were generic based on the ammunition, leading to only 6 types of pistols (and only .38 Special revolvers (aircrew issue)). SMG and larger firearms were specific types.

Detailed pistols and revolvers were introduced in the Small Arms Guide.

Re: My two cents about small arms in TW2000

Gaming-wise generic weapon categories would work. SMG, Assault rifle, LMG, MMG.... The dice roll for hits and damage gives enough randomness to mask over minor differences in the hardware. But... having detailed info adds flavour to the game. A military-style game is expected to have detailed info o...

Re: The Swedish setting

Speaking of infantry and Norrland brigades; without a surplus of cheap armoured vehicles, I guess they would still be using soft-skinned vehicles (with the company of IKV 91 the only exception) https://www.femorefortet.se/Bilder/140820-Tgb20.jpg I can't think of any major differences from IB 77R and...

Re: The Swedish setting

IKV 91 was primarily used by infantry brigade and Norrland brigade. One company per brigaed. There was some proposed Centurion upgrade (strv 105) that never happened because second hand Leo 2s was a much better choice. They're still outdated, but some improvement could still be made. I checked a bit...

Re: The Swedish setting

With the Soviet Union still a threat, I think we can remove the used Leo 2 A4s (Strv 121) from the discussion. No one wants to sell their tanks. For a new MBT that leaves us licence-produced Leo 2 A5 (strv 122) or the domestic Strv 141 (Strv 2000). But one thing to consider is that Sweden would stil...

Re: The Swedish setting

It seems as a private company has made copyright claims, not Försvarsmakten. Vimeo has removed or disabled access to the video Förebudet (1987) as a result of a third-party notification by Fagervik & Skamsund AB that claims this material is infringing on their copyright. Linking is propably not allo...

Re: The Swedish setting

Tried to find the training film "Förebudet" online, but no luck on the video sites, only on torrent sites. However, the armed forces has a series of videos (in Swedish) that might be interesting. If. Re: The Swedish setting

Yes, Såtenäs of course, although the air wing would be dispersed to temporary bases (roads) in the area in times of war. haven't thought about Skövde, but the town had a two regiments (armor and logistics) that could make it a target. Long ago there were plans to use Karlsborg as "reserve capitol" a...

Re: The Swedish setting

Anyway, it seems to me (the image's resolution sets some limits, I'm afraid) that a great number of towns of various sizes in Västergötland are shown as rubble, while in Östergötland and most other parts of the map, towns seem essentially intact. My theory: Västergötland is the basing area for two ...
