Re: ALPHA Heavy weapon speciaties

It's sometimes hard to draw the line between skills. firing a LMG/MMG (HW skill) from a bipod is closer to firing an an assault rifle then firing an assault rifle is to firing a pistol (both rifle and pistol use Ranged Combat skill). Or a bow. firing a M203/M79 looks pretty close to firing a rifle, ...

btw: what would it take to diagnose the diseases without a lab or some test? food poisoning / dystentery / cholera is pretty close when it comes to symptoms.

Fodd poisoning could also include diarrhea.

Add the humble tick instead of rabies. Plenty of nasty (but generally not lethal) diseases you can get from them, and it's not unlikely to get bitten running around in woods and fields.

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Anyway. I have now actually gone through creating a bunch of characters using the Lifepath system and boy do I have some more THOUGHTS. nonetheless, the whims of randomness do produce some unpleasant outcomes. I understand that's part of the deal when you sign up to do a character this way, but it ...

Re: [ALPHA] "so i am missing x vehicle/gear/weapon"

Sheridan's IRL retirement in 1996 would probably have been postponed. But when I looked up production numbers (because 80000 seemed way to high), it looks like about 1600 were produced in total from 1959 onwards. The Sheridans would probably be where the 82nd Airborne is (or has been and couldn't br...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Or how hitting a target with a tank gun or artillery or any kind of mounted weapon has anything whatsoever to do with Strength? It's the skill Heavy Weapons. Of course it needs strength :D Personally I find that skill very broad. I'm trained on ATGM RBS-56 and could probably fire a TOW or Milan. Bu...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Burst fire to increase hit probability was an idea in the G11. 3 round bursts with very high ROF and controlled dispersion. Kind of a shotgun. Isn't 3-round bursts in assault rifles mostly a way a getting a large part of the suppressive effects of full auto without emptying the magazine in one trigg...

Re: [ALPHA] Scrounging, Foraging, Hunting limitations

1,000 meat rations from a cow 300 meat rations from a pig 79 meat rations from a sheep But "ration" has a different meaning here, because in the game a ration is a day's food; this is the meat portion of a single meal. So dividing by four is probably fair. Good info! Divided by something again to t...

Re: Piloting aircraft - skill?

Some skills might be too broad. Driving is one of them, Tech is another. But at least theres no ADM skill. That's a pretty worthless speciality :)
