Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

I'm considering simplyfing the ruling I suggested earlier: if at least a certain amount of ammo is not spent during the attack, it cannot cause suppression (but can cause additional hits). What is this number then? Maybe 3.

Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

I had problem with freely choosing "single shot" over ammo dice, not between different numbers of ammo dice. In my latest post I also criticized the logic of all weapons having at least 1 ammo die. E.g., Pipe Gun is like a pump-action shotgun that is reloaded with one shell only.

Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

That changes the rules a little too much to my taste, but thanks for sharing. By the way, I only now noticed that even weapons with MAG of 1 have 1 Ammo Die ( EDIT: correction, heavy weapons such as grenade launchers and anti-tank rockets don't use ammo dice, so there aren't many ). I have a little ...

Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

You are correct, that is a balancing mechanic. Even if not abusing it. I'd like if every roll was more balanced but I'm guessing it is the way it is because no one came up with a better mechanic. Like, each ammo die could consume a little less ammo, and if you don't have enough ammo to cover the rol...

Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

This is a good thing, though: it's the game telling you that different weapons should be used in different ways. This would be OK but I don't like the idea of either having total control or very little control. And if you get a hit, it'll always cost you. It would be nice if AD successes weren't al...

Re: Single shot vs Ammo Dice

Yeah I understand that every boost helps, but at what cost? E.g. a bolt-action hunting rifle (no scope). RoF 1, mag 5, dam 3. A PC with decent stats: D10/D8. Odds to get at least one success at short (less than 100m) range are around 31% to 69%, depending on other modifiers. Now if they add 1 Ammo D...

Single shot vs Ammo Dice

The Alpha rules did not have the option to use single shots. You can add as many ammo dice to your attack as you like, from a minimum of one up to the rate of fire (RoF) rating of your weapon. The idea was, I'm guessing, that it in the heat of the battle, you'll just be shooting and counting later. ...

Re: House Rules (1.0 edition)

I'm considering Intelligence to be the second attribute to give quick-thinking / perceptive civilians some edge. Although I don't want to do this if Int is already stronger than other attributes (this I don't know). My thinking... Average stats: Civilian: CUF D, INT C Soldier (or e.g. marauder): CUF...
