Re: "Destroyer of Worlds" Talk (spoiler warning)

I'd think triggering the UPP attack would be a great way to pull the rug out from underneath them, if they're on their way back to the hospital (or the fort.) If you're reluctant to do that, I'd remind them that their orders are to go after the AWOLs, and any deviation from those orders will have to...

Re: Destroyer of worlds Ruth Anne Dante

I spoke to one of the play testers about this exact same thing. I had the same idea about the extra health belonging to the burster but Fragpuss is correct. I was informed that originally she had the Tough talent and it had been swapped out. The 7 is an oversight and should be 5. EFEKT Dave said in...

Re: Hope's Last Day: does the traitor mechanic work?

The module's designed to be short and brutal, so it's very unforgiving and there's not a lot of time for foreshadowing and nuance. I don't think Singleton betraying the party at the last minute should be considered a failure state, it's part of the drama, and I don't think it's robbing the players a...

Re: Blocking

Weapons should break when its appropriate for them to break. Headbites can punch through steel so blocking a headbite can potentially break any weapon. I would say 50/50 chance the weapon breaks. Although if a player blocks a headbite with a complex weapon like a pulse rifle and it breaks I would d...

Re: Blocking

Consider that a block is not just a matter of using something like a shield, taking the full brunt of the attack... but a tool with which to knock the offending appendage off-course. Generally speaking you're redirecting an attack so that it misses or only causes superficial damage. With that in min...

Re: Chariot of the Gods Characters

I think you've misunderstood. They do use the same rules. When you're creating a character from scratch for Campaign play, you choose one talent from your Career to start with. You can only learn more talents (Career or General) as you gain and spend XP. You do not start with two talents.

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

No, that's not how circular logic works, either. Giger created the design. Scott interpreted that design to bring it to film. The concept art - and Giger's intent - are irrelevant to canon, because Giger didn't make the movie. Scott did. There are two possible conclusions to this. If we go the full ...

Re: Black goo?

The spores were neomorphic motes, from neomorphic egg sacs, both of which are represented in the core book. The black goo is different.

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

Again, besides the point.  The fact is it was something the people who made the first film had taken into consideration when they were making the first film.  It wasn't created for the third film. Whether you think the concept is present in the first film or not doesn't mean they didn't create it a...

Re: Black goo?

Contact with the black goo is a Sickness roll with Virulence 6. Ingestion of the black goo is a Sickness roll with Virulence 12. So simply coming into contact with it is enough to turn somebody, but swallowing or inhaling it (were it to somehow become aerosolized) is much worse. Likely injecting pur...
