Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I think your analysis is correct. I believe part of the reason why this is causing a disconnect in some people's minds (mine, among them) is that the ammo capacity of the weapons listed in the game is their true ammo capacity, not an abstract representation of it. Which means that if I in a tactical...

Re: [ALPHA] "so i am missing x vehicle/gear/weapon"

So...the sheridan, i know it was taken out of service by 97 but well over 80k produced and used even in desert storm. One would abolutly asume that i would have stayed in service given the cirumstances, especially with ammo and trained crews at hand. Not unlikely. In the historical timeline, many s...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Players Manual Page 46 “SPECIAL: When using HEAVY WEAPONS to fire mounted weapons, use AGL instead of STR, and when firing artillery, use INT.” Good find! I sort of stopped reading at the end of the paragraph... However — that then would mean that the "associated attributes" are only somewhat loose...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Burst fire to increase hit probability was an idea in the G11. 3 round bursts with very high ROF and controlled dispersion. Kind of a shotgun. Isn't 3-round bursts in assault rifles mostly a way a getting a large part of the suppressive effects of full auto without emptying the magazine in one trig...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Wasn't the "3-round burst shots" 2e? Or am I missing my recollection...
You do ... I checked my memory before bringing it up. :)

Gotcha!

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

The attributes represent more than just the actual word. Strength for example represent not just raw strength but also toughness and physical endurance. The Medical Aid skill is not only to first aid or remove bullets, it represent everything a doctor does. For certain ... but operating a modern ta...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Another interesting effect I have big problems with is that you can't fire a burst of two or three shots and still be able to hit your target with two bullets. In fact, assuming I read the rules right, you must spend a minimum of six shots to be able to hit anything with two bullets! This seems unre...

Re: [ALPHA] Scrounging, Foraging, Hunting limitations

But "ration" has a different meaning here, because in the game a ration is a day's food; this is the meat portion of a single meal. So dividing by four is probably fair. Meaning that by the game, two people will get a full day's worth of food from one rabbit... A hare, perhaps — but a rabbit...? Mu...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

some don't make sense Mmmh...! Just for instance, could someone please explain to me how "Medical Aid" in a contemporary context is an "Empathy" skill? It's not as it being a skilful medic exactly necessitates a good bedside manner... Or how hitting a target with a tank gun or artillery or any kind...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

The M16 in 1E had a RoF of 4. You could fire 1 bullet or 4 bullets per round...at your discretion. The M16 had a ROF of 4 "shots." Each "shot" was actually 3 rounds, and the magazine capacity was correspondingly reduced to 10 instead of 30. Wasn't the "3-round burst shots" 2e? Or am I missing my re...
