Re: [ALPHA] "so i am missing x vehicle/gear/weapon"

Good question — would Western politicians have chosen to be just as naïve in the face of a Soviet Union that just had forcibly quelled internal dissent as they were in the face of one that was breaking apart? I would hope they wouldn't have... As for the G11 — there was another factor in the equatio...

Re: [ALPHA] The UK in 4E is still a bit... problematic

A that UK devolves into a civil war between loyalists and a Moscow-sponsored fifth column of radicals and useful idiots...? Considering many elements of British history of the past 100 years, this actually sounds almost uncomfortably plausible...! I could definitely consider developing that one. Ye...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

On the subject of EMP(Medical), it is has become a common linkage in games since at least 2000 with D&D3e. That said, Empathy is the "interact with people" stat. Diagnosing a medical problem and assessing the treatment applied has a fundamental component involving this. Even House has a decent EMP,...

Re: [ALPHA] Temporary Alpha Feedback Place

The smoke screen should cover an arc of about 5 hexes, at a range of 3 hexes from the vehicle itself, I think. Sounds about right. Should also be noted that more modern 90's vehicle smoke dischargers do also block IR. The current rules explicitly state that "thermal optics can see through smoke", b...

Re: [ALPHA] Temporary Alpha Feedback Place

In the game world, probably not, because of supply limitations. :)

Okay, rephrasing — "a tank's smoke dischargers, if and when loaded, will always be loaded with WP grenades".

Re: [ALPHA] Temporary Alpha Feedback Place

A bit more about smoke — I think it would be beneficial to highlight the difference between "torch-type" and WP-type smoke grenades. Some torch-type grenades can take a few seconds to get going after ignition, and emit a steady, thick stream of smoke over a period of time — about one to three minute...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I agree that the likelihood of it getting changed is minuscule, but I'd still like to think that if looking at the issue with an open mind, the lads at FL come to decide that "aw hecc, this would actually make a much better system", they'd still add the reliability dice to the game — retcon a 5,000,...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

On the other hand, the game is still in development — currently it doesn’t ship with anything . It doesn’t exist yet. And since the mechanics also are still in development, I doubt the final design of the dice has been settled upon yet, either. So, assuming that a compelling enough case can be made ...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Modify the rules like this: All weapons have a Reliability Rating, weapons that do not have one currently get one assigned, usually a d12 ("A"). This is a general rule from which improvised or cheaply produced weapons might differ: a broken bottle will have a reliability rating of d6 ("D"). When yo...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Again, this would link the amount of bullets put through the action or barrel within a set timeframe (i. e. 'one combat round') to the rate of mishaps occurring to a gun. This is not the case, unless one is using a weapon way outside its specifications or the gun is badly designed. ... But a good d...
