Re: NOSTROMO – the Accurate Deck Plans (IMO, anyway...)

I need to rewatch the movie I think because I don't remember Ripley going down the ladder on the way to see Kane . It's in the extended version; right before she gets slapped by Lambert. . Another thing I need to rewatch the movie for is to see if we ever have a view that implies their size any bet...

Re: NOSTROMO – the Accurate Deck Plans (IMO, anyway...)

Does the Sullaco have similar problems fitting interior to exterior? That also seems like an unreasonably huge ship for such a small company of soldiers. . Judging the size of the ship from the dropship launch, and considering the amount of space we actually get to see from the Sulaco's interior (t...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

It should be abundantly, undeniably clear to anybody who reads even a portion of this book that the authors have a deep, profound, and informed love and understanding of the franchise. Using our context clues, I think it's easy to say that their use of the term Xenomorph comes from the pursuit of r...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

I'll also argue again the technicality: XX121 and Neomorph life cycles are the only "Alien/Strange/Other-Forms/Shapes" presented in the book. The other creatures are known and identified by the galaxy at large, so calling them xenomorphs would be scientifically inaccurate. The only creatures called...

Re: NOSTROMO – the Accurate Deck Plans (IMO, anyway...)

rather starting from scratch as seems to be the case here. . Not scratch, my friend -- the movie . The movie we're all fans of. That's what I meant.  From scratch as in ignoring everything other than what ended up in the film.  It wasn't intended as a criticism. . That's an interesting point. Depe...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

There's also value in catering to the common parlance rather than being overly technical when you're trying to engage the casual fan, and the casual fan thinks Xenomorph = XX121. . Yep.  Alien can many things to the average punter.  If you say Xenomorph, any familiar with that term knows exactly wh...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

In regards to stages I just see them as a game mechanic same as what you'd find in a video game to provide a variety of enemies.  As far as the films go there's adults (aka warriors) and Queens.  In regards to naming, the capital A Alien is Xenomorph XX121 - to differentiate from other xenomorph li...

Re: NOSTROMO – the Accurate Deck Plans (IMO, anyway...)

S.M.: The Nostromo has three decks - A, B and C.  Plus Graham is a friend of mine, who has spent years researching this kind of thing.  Ditto Darrell Curtis.  As have I.  . And I. (Say Hi to Darrell for me next time you see him). And several others I am sure both you and I could name. I do depart f...
