Re: Any tips for Campaign Play?

YZE is basically a one-shot system ... I believe it fair to say that the "cinematic" adventure is the default mode of this game. It has indeed been suggested that the campaign mode is just the bare minimum to be able to market this as a role-playing game in a traditional sense, rather than an elabor...

Re: The One Ring

They didn't release ALIEN through a KS, but still had a DL version available for pre-orders. It may be that this is the way they choose/need to do with media properties ... or then it was just Fox. We'll see. One of the advantages of doing it through a KS - when backers often are given beta access t...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

I'm not directly familiar with Mouse Guard, but I do have the first edition of Luke Crane's Burning Wheel.
Do you know anything about similarities/differences?

Re: The Swedish setting

Ooh thanks for that mate! AJ 37's ... out of Luleå, interestingly? ... but that brings soo much nostalgia! Love those visuals ...still one of the coolest aircraft throughout aviation history, to my mind... :P Well done! As for your scenario ... I agree; bearing in mind that the Soviet Union already ...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

So that becomes an abstract rebuild project in 4 steps: Investigate -plan - gather resources -implement. . Which, for a TTRPG representation of such a process, doesn't strike me as very abstract at all; rather the contrary. I'd love for the game to incorporate that kind of detail. And yeah, I think...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

Oh, I'd love to see a new take on Traveller: 2300 / 2300AD...

Traveller ( and MegaTraveller etc) however didn't occupy that same timeline ... they were their own continuity.

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

Again, a host of excellent points. I'll highlight two where I do disagree somewhat - and I'm afraid these may come across as a bit nit-picky, for which I apologise, but I'll persist anyway, since they also serve very well to highlight the point I'm making: . A very abstract system is almost by defin...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

You have a lot of good ideas. Generally, I, too, am in favour of games that offer a choice of abstraction levels. Common sense is something people develop with experience; I'd therefore like for games to provide gaming groups with a deeper, more detailed systematic framework to guide them should fee...

Re: The Swedish setting

In Sweden's operational planning during the late Cold War, a number of scenarios were considered for how Swedish territory might become involved in a major war on the Continent, and how Sweden's response to these different scenarios would need to look. The planning was quite detailed; I remember par...

Re: YZE adaptation for Twilight: 2000 gameplay

You're touching upon a heated discussion we had in the ALIEN forum about the nature of "hit points" in games that use them in one form or another -- that it isn't really appropriate, or realistic, to interpret each point lost as a certain discrete amount of concrete, physical damage. Any number of s...
