Re: XX121 Damage on Androids

Dave really thought this out! I was basically going to go with "If it's a one-hit kill on a human, it's the same on a synth, otherwise, they just take the damage of the attack." The one point I nearly had to use it, my plan was just to use the 10's digit on the Synth chart... But I like the designe...

Re: Campaign idea: Alien: Voyager

I see our disconnect. The Gravity drive isn't affected by someone being awake. The book says the following: Another disconnect: The Gravity Drive is not the standard FTL drive, and you didn't specify Gravity Drive.  The DIsplacement Drive is the standard FTL drive. (Stated right column p 150.) That...

Re: What is the max. number of base dice you can roll?

I thought there was a max of 10 but I must have misremembered.
Well, its the number of dice in each pack...

A number of other games do use 10d caps.

Re: Campaign idea: Alien: Voyager

I don't see how this person's weight being enough to throw off the gravity drive correlates with NDD.  If a single person (who is probably under 0.07% of a class G's unladen mass¹) being aboard makes a significant difference in FTL course, then... 1) no one will be allowed to remain awake, because ...

Re: Other Hazards: Conditions

OKej. So it is correct that when a PC suffers from an condition let us say starving, the PC will only roll every turn as stated in rules (not pushing the roll) since it is not a skill roll.  Until they're dying, it's a skill roll without the explicit instruction otherwise, so they apparently can pu...

Re: Campaign idea: Alien: Voyager

Niot that actual campaign title but the idea came to me while reading about the gravity drives. It said that if the weight of the ship is off that it risks "severe course deviation." I had a thought "what if a stowaway got on an exploration vessel equipped with a gravity drive?" To be honest, I'd b...

Re: Other Hazards: Conditions

Thanks for your replay on my topic.  The rules are in contradiction. You can push skill rolls, but conditions aren't skills rolls.  You just answered your own question: with the exception of explicit instruction otherwise (Death Checks), skills can be pushed. That's not a contradiction; there are s...

Re: Campaign Mode... some thoughts

So let’s put this very simple: what should an Alien campaign be about? I don’t think that question is really answered in the game. I want examples (yes, I can create my own stuff, but guidelines would help). And I don’t think that the space is limited enough to be described as a sandbox. To me trav...

Re: Other Hazards: Conditions

The rule imply all skill rolls can be pushed.  The main rules on pushing are in the skills chapter.  p 61: " Besides pushing skill rolls, other stressful or dangerous events can increase your  STRESS LEVEL as well as trigger Panic Rolls." and "When making skill rolls—including the immediate re-roll ...

In re compatible DNA... Several amino acids  are naturally occurring elsewhere... Glycine has been identified in a comet's coma. https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17628-found-first-amino-acid-on-a-comet/ Ribose, the sugar which is modified to make DNA by adding a phosphate group, also occurs in...
