Re: How long do your combat encounters usually last?

Are you speaking from experience? Because you are making it sound much worse than it is. Players know their skills. That's a pool of 1 colored die that generally won't change. Adding or subtracting 2 dice based on circumstance takes no time at all. Likewise for attributes. A static pool where they j...

Re: How long do your combat encounters usually last?

I don't feel like the d6s are that swingy. You have a pretty steady progress of likelihood that you will succeed (and a chart details that percentage chance with and without pushes). Taking damage immediately impacts the dice pool and the toughest non monsters have like... 6 strength. Some weapons d...

Re: How long do your combat encounters usually last?

I have had far more problems with combat feeling like a slog in other games like DND where hit points don't matter until they are reduced to 0 and the hp pools can be massive.

I mean... The big dragon in forbidden lands has less than 40 life? That's whatever man.

Re: Pelagia

I think you should consider 1) the resources available to who they are trying to sell it to and 2) what that group/person would be willing to do to acquire it. The dwarves might trade for it if the price is fair. But if the players ask for too much how many dwarves vs how many pcs? Would they just t...

Re: Reputation

Well an adult adventurer has a reputation of 1 because presumably they’ve done things of note. Your average adult in a village likely wouldn’t have any. I’d err on the side of keeping reputation scores quite low aside from people who have done truly notable things. I agree with this. How well do yo...

Re: Pelagia

Yeah. I would totally allow the players to hang themselves by selling away an ancient artifact without really knowing what it was and then having that come back to bite them in the ass.

Re: Backpack house rule

I seem to remember (but could be wrong) one of the devs saying the sack you start with is not a backpack, but a bag for your food rations. I could very easily be mistaken. But I think the idea was you had an item for carrying each of the basic supplies. Food, water, and coin.

What exactly about roll20 do you dislike? It might help you get more recommendations if you give more info.

Re: Backpack house rule

Look at the tech level in the forbidden lands. Nobody is designing a back pack with attached chest and waist horizontal straps and pouches for evenly distributing a load. You would be lucky if the single strap on your backpack wasn't also it's drawstring. Satchels is more or less the peek advancemen...
