Re: Redrunner Stats

The players are not all Elves. They are specific elves in balance with other player characters. That doesn't mean other NPCs are incapable of exceeding the player norm. It just means the players are the player norm. The players do not represent the racial peak capabilities and you have no reason to...

Re: Pushed Rolls in Combat

To me pushing a roll is best if the character describes what they are doing, and understanding the drawbacks. My players fight to push rolls, and are bummed when either I don't let them roll at all, or when the single success is needed. Pushing as a mechanic is always about over reaching, giving it ...

Re: Elf Lore vs Elf Rules

I like the idea of possibilities, a quest to bring back a long lost elf who can do something for the world but only in a body, or a PC who has unfinished business and it needs to be done in far less time than the century process used in the still mist, or becoming an ent, or any other process would ...

Re: Can Swarms be chosen for Path of the Beast?

it would be interesting to encounter an NPC with this, like a Willard type, or any of a number of genre horror film characters. I'd not want to let a player I GM do this, or be in a group with a player who does this, because um cracra batshite cracra

Re: Waterskin/Quiver/Backpack

the most confusing thing about food is the excess units that can be left after hunting, foraging, fishing when everyone is at d12 already. I wonder how consuming a unit of food is even possible if it is what will raise your resource to a d6, d8, d10, or d12, yet they are also single meals. because o...

Re: Would Immolate work against the undead?

vampires drink blood
restless undead come from kin (blood)
skeletons are made of marrow (blood - in fact it would be like roman candles)

So the only undead that are safe would be spirits and non-corporeal creatures. That's how I've ruled in the past, it makes sense to me.

Re: Chainmail and wear from bains

I would probably just halve the armour rating against stabs and arrows, it seems fairer. It was hard to believe that after about 20 games this was the first time this came up, either it's just a round of arrows and then all hand to hand. This time the archer was farther away and there were PC's at ...

Re: Chainmail and wear from bains

It doesn't say half, it say 3, so I would say that if the armor get one point of damage it will have an armor rating of 5/2 and then 4/1 and so on. That sounds ok according to the rules as written. I find it strange though, that a chainmail that still offers half decent protection (3 dices) from a ...

Chainmail and wear from bains

If chain is 6 protection normally and 3 against piercing. If a bain is rolled and reduces the chain to 5 does the against piercing roll stay 3 until the armor is worn down by 4 points? Or is it 1/2 rounded up?
