Re: How do you learn magic on your own?

I'd love to have a random spell name generator for scrolls and spells found in books. I really like the idea that you find a spell, roll for its name, end up with "Zenkull's Shadow Voice" and have to decide what the spell does. I've seen it in other games, it might be my favorite magic system... But...

Re: Damage and recovery

I do like having to spend a WP to kill a defenseless enemy, but I think Fragpuss has a point.
Some talents feel a bit underwhelming especially at tier 3 so combining Cold blooded and Executioner looks fine.

So, how do traps work?

I might be too much into a "roll to check for traps" mentality, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to do that in FL. The Scouting skill specifically mentions you shouldn't use it to find hidden things. Fine by me. But assume there's a hidden tripwire in a corridor: it's meant to be s...

Re: Spending Willpower

Not all talents require that you spend a WP. If it's not written anything, it's free. If it's written "spend a WP" you have to spend one WP, it's pretty much crystal clear... So, sword fighter gives you a permanent bonus for free. If you want to trigger your path of the shield lvl 1 "friendly block"...

Re: Stunts?

Understood, thanks for clearing this up (especially on a sunday).  Would it be possible to add a note in the GM section to give advice and guidance for a GM to allow players to spend additional ⚔️ on skills if they roll really well?  If you take this option away for most skills then it leaves a mos...

Re: Armour Talents

Not sure it's as overpowered as it seems... Each point of armor only has a 1/6 chance to soak a point of damage, and if they don't soak it all the armor gets damaged. Plus, Willpower seems like a precious resource, and if you spend it before your attack roll it might not even be useful. We'll see ho...

Re: Path of the enemy

I kind of see it the other way... If a player takes this talent, to me it implicitely suggests that they will always use hidden combos. It's an implicit deal: if the GM won't allow hidden combos, the player doesn't try to mess with her and take this talent. If hidden combos are on the table and the ...

Re: Character Death and integrating new characters

@King Kull: Maybe you don't enjoy randomization, not everyone does. But I think it's really fun to get handed the building blocks of your character, and try to find patterns and make sense of them. It's a way to get out of your creative comfort zone, to play characters that you otherwise wouldn't ha...

Re: Character Death and integrating new characters

Woops! Didn't see 9littlebees also came up with a method. My suggestion is a bit more tedious maybe but would create characters exactly according to the rules. So it could very well be an option that only part of the players choose: randomly generated and thoughtfully generated characters could coha...

Re: Character Death and integrating new characters

I actually thought about this today, here's how I would generate a random character: Roll a d6 for your Kin. Roll a d8 for your profession. Roll a d3 (d6/2) for your age. No starting attribute can be below 2, so put them all at 2. Add 1 to your profession and kin's key attributes, Roll a d4 to add +...
