Re: Artifact bonus

I hope artifact dice will be used for effects that feel truly special, and not just as a replacement for weapon dice... I think giving players a "+1 sword" is the least inspired thing you can do, to speak in DnD terms.

Re: Forbidden Lands game play

Defender and its similar talents are very good. But not so good players automatically chose them over others. Their is one exception after the first few games. Every one playing a ranger got Fast Shooter. Fast shooter is such a game changer for archery that it's almost a requirement to have level o...

Re: Forbidden Lands game play

Thanks for sharing! How do you feel about the different Talents and their balance? I felt like the Talents that give you additional actions in combat (Defender for instance) seemed extremely useful.

Re: Playtest and feedback: from Sweden, but in English!

When a monster takes damage, does it reduce the number of dice rolled on their special attacks? When you get a penalty to a roll, is it deduced from your skill or your attribute dice? If it's deduced from your skill and the penalty is higher than your skill, what happens? Chapter 9, p146 "<> The ef...

Playtest and feedback: from Sweden, but in English!

We playtested Forbidden Lands today in Stockholm, with a group of English speaking players. Here's how it turned out: 1. The story (mild spoilers about the Weatherstone adventure site) Starring Bro the orc druid, Naako the wolfkin ranger, Merry Poppins the halfling peddler and Switch the elf rogue. ...

Re: Using magic over your talent level

I agree. At the very least the wording needs to change. So far it's written that you can attempt to cast above your level but it's risky. It's actually not riskier at all, just slightly less potent... One way to really increase the risk would be to consider all successes as skulls when casting above...

On the fly NPC / Monster stats

Browsing through the Alpha. it seems that monsters and NPCs all have extensive, wordy descriptions, and the same stats as PCs. Monsters also have a table with special actions and NPCs potentially have gear and can perform combat maneuvers like PCs. This is very rich and nice, but it's also a lot to ...

Re: Stunts?

I recently saw criticism towards MYZ on an online forum. A player wrote that the system gets too easy too quickly if you minmax. They apparently played a fixer who rolled so many dice on social checks, that not only did they never fail, they also had too many success to spend on stunts. Does this ha...

Re: How do you learn magic on your own?

I'd love to have a random spell name generator for scrolls and spells found in books. I really like the idea that you find a spell, roll for its name, end up with "Zenkull's Shadow Voice" and have to decide what the spell does. I've seen it in other games, it might be my favorite magic system... Bu...

Re: Parrying

A classic knife-fight in a dark ally require that both of the combatants have the Steady Feet talent or the combat will be decided by initiative. For example: A and B both have knives. A attacks B. Be dodges (he can't parry because knife is not a parrying weapon), but since he doesn't have Steady F...
