Re: How much silver/gold do you give to your players?

My group makes almost no money - just what they can scavenge or trade.

Sometimes they find a nice piece of old jewelry that they can sell for a few silver coins, but that's it.

Re: Food and Water

A simple suggestion to make consumables more challenging: decrease the dice one step if the player does not roll at least one success (6+).

Re: Maximum value for Skills and unspent XP

"<> They are measured by skill level on a scale from 0 to 5"
Player's Handbook p32

I was mistaken on the skills, thanks for correcting me. :)

Then, what do you folks do in terms of xp?

Maximum value for Skills and unspent XP

The official character's sheet in the Player's Handbook has 25 "slots" for writing down unspent experience points, which implies that the maximum value for a player's character skills is 5 (increasing a skill from 4 to 5 costs 25xp). However, the rules don't specifically say that the maximum value f...

Re: Increasing Talent Costs

Yeah, faun, this is not really about players' characters having "too many talents" or being "too powerful". In fact, it has nothing to do with that. :D. This topic was brought forward from a discussion on the tendency of experienced characters having lots of talents while skills see almost no progre...

Re: Bind Magic living creature restriction

My understanding is that, as you stated, " it binds ability to cast the spell at some time in the future " - minus the risk associated to actually casting the spell at the moment you activate it. An item like the magic slippers you've described would is so powerful in the Forbidden Lands that it wou...

Re: Increasing Talent Costs

My campaign has a similar "problem": the group is experienced enough to be powerful (60xp+), and most of the characters have very few skills (mostly their initial ones) while I'm already editing my character sheet template to make room for more talents as most of the characters already have 10+ of t...

Re: Monsters too easy?

I've also found that individual monsters go down quite easily even when the party is poorly equipped, but with a decent amount of experience (~40xp). In this game, numbers matter a lot: 4 adventurers will easily dispatch a single monster, 4 x 4 will make for a tough fight and if you throw more than ...

Re: Law of the Land

So, the way I interpret it is that the old treatises between elves, dwarfs and humans are long gone. After four Alder wars, the original Law of the Land probably has been completely forgotten. Now, it's possible that most human settlements follow some sort of derivative Alderland law, while elves, d...
