Re: Problems of Setting

I find the addition of hit points to be a bit crunchy for what is really a narrative game. But interested to see how it works. I have the feeling that when you add hit points, it becomes a lot more life and death. I can't think of many in-genre instances where they would make sense. Not in Stranger ...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

So adults are either: Protagonists: may have their own agenda but are generally well disposed towards the kids. Antagonists: have their own agenda and are not well disposed towards the kids. Everyone: just the normal run of the mill people who think kids should be in school or bible class or speakin...

Re: Conditions

OK...so is it -1 to the dice roll or -1 to the dice pool? The rules say it's a -1 to the dice roll but.... Because a -1 to the dice roll makes success impossible (if you need a 6 for a success). Using a special item adds 2 dice to your pool (which you're going to fail anyway because of your -1) Prid...

Re: Problems of Setting

I have only read a bit of the PDF yet, but my general feeling is: "How did sci-fi and current day tech exist together in 80's movies, like Flight of the Navigator, Explorers, War Games etc?". Best vibe I can liken it to is Explorers.  River Phoenix coding an alien "bubble shield" with his Apple IIe...

Re: Problems of Setting

The older kids in Stranger Things were, for the most part, playing a different game, as you said, but their game still overlapped with the younger kids' game, if that makes sense. As for the "can't be killed" aspect being abused. I'm totally going to homebrew in some hit points for the Kids and wha...

Re: Items

Depends on where "here" is. In Sweden, hunting rifles and shotguns are rather common in the countryside. Kids can join the Home Guard Youth or the Airforce Youth at 15 and learn to shoot with a Mauser bolt action rifle. They aren't allowed to keep the rifles at home. Ah ok - it's reasonable to assu...
